In Ireland it's practically impossible to avoid every organisation with a religious connection. If it's the likes of SVDP they do very good community work and push very little in the way of religion.

A group has organised itself to arrange and promote events that will enhance your immediate community at large and possibly be of great assistance to people who may be in need of assistance. I can't think of anything more positive to be involved in and I know it's a cliche but you'll probably get more out of it then you put in.
    They're Catholics not the KKK.
If your waiting for a non religious group to come along and organise something in rural Ireland in particular then your in for a long wait.

Note: to clarify here, this group is not something like "the parish of xyz" which is often the case.
    This is more specific.

Just so long as its not Youth Defence or the Iona Institute you're probably good to go :P
