Advice on Labrador dog food

Hi all,

I have a Labrador retriever, who is 7 months old, and at the moment I am feeding him James Wellbeloved dry food and he loves it and seems to be going great. Before this I had him on junior maxi and before that I had him on hills essentials. I changed the hills brand to junior maxi as I found out that hills was not recommended by a guide dogs triaged so I changed to James wellbeloved.

At moment the cost of these foods are a little bit too much. Could anyone advise is it best to keep him on the James wellbeloved or is there any brand that's near as good at a cheaper price? Some people say Gain food is good but to be honest I don't know what i am looking for in the foods, if someone could recommend a food and why/what I should be looking for in dog food that would be great! Look at the ingredients of the James Wellbeloved, and go to your food supply shop, and compare labels/prices. Really the issue is the best quality for your budget. The best quality you can afford is worth doing a bit of research for - use google, educate yourself. Where are you located? Your pet supply shop should be able to give you advice on the brands they stock. ZOOPLUS.IE is very popular on here, there are various other websites too that you can compare prices on. If your dog has no allergies/issues with grains etc., you will have a bigger choice. There are a huge number of threads on the issue of food and quality on this site, have a look for recommendations. In the meantime, here are some sites that you can compare prices on (below) James Welbeloved, Burns, Arden Grange, Orijen, Call of the Wild, Arcana, Markus Muhle, Applaws, Barking Heads all good brands. I would steer clear of any supermarket ownbrand food, or really most of the 'popular' foods in supermarkets (Pedigree, Barkers etc)
