I can't view it properly but for that price would you not be better getting an airline friendly car seat?
I can't really see much of a benefit to car seats on a plane once they are not babies but then I was reminded of of fuel restrictions and turbulence.

She is still classed as an infant by airlines since she is under 2. The only option is to purchase a "comfort seat" and use a harness/carseat which I have already done, or have her on my lap. The reason I want to go for the harness is it is much easier to carry on to the plane and gives her more room. It is also useable up to age 4 or 20kg so seems a better investment.

I would rather not have her on my lap as she is quite independent already and also getting heavier!

    What is a comfort seat?
My kids have https://www.kiddyuk.com/car-seats/Guardianfix-3 which are airline approved.

    I also found
"All Britax harnessed car seats, including infant car seats, convertible car seats, and combination harness-2-booster seats, are certified for use on aircraft. Belt-positioning booster seats are NOT FAA approved and should not be used to secure your child on a plane."

The harness is a lot less cumbersome thought unless you are going to be using a car on the other side.

I dread the next flight with mine!

A comfort seat is an extra seat on the plane that you purchase at full fare for the infant. I.E giving you comfort.

I'm not sure that all britax seats are approved.

I have the following plus an isofix version of the same:

    https://www.babyaccessories.ie/p/britax_evolva123_car_seat

Which I am fairly sure is not airline approved.

    Edit:
The following Britax models have been approved for use on a plane:

    BABY-SAFE
    BABY-SAFE plus
    BABY-SAFE plus II
    BABY-SAFE plus SHR II
TÜV ID number 9811400300 (ECE approval no. 03301146 or 04301146)

Suitable for children up to 13kg, or until the head extends over the edge of the infant carrier. The label certifying suitability for airline use can be found on the car seat.

    ECLIPSE
TÜV ID number 0000028802 (ECE approval no. 040149)

Suitable for children from 9 to18 kg.
This model is approved for airline use subject to airline regulations. Accessory Kits is necessary and available from your dealer.

As airline regulations regarding suitable car seats can change regularly, we recommend that you always check with your airline before travelling.

It appears very few are actually approved.

The diono radian 5 is a good airline seat. Very narrow and folds in half. Great spate seat to have also!
If they are under 2 unless in a car seat, they have to be in your arms during take off landing and turbulence anyway.
From flying lots with my now 3 yr old I don't think a harness would be a good investment. It'll just annoy them as they'll want to be moving around. My guy would get up and down from his seat, climb up and look out the window etc, want to walk the aisles. He wasn't sitting in his seat much at all!

They don't with the harness once they are over 1.

Thanks for the seat suggestion but its quite expensive and I already have 2 group 1/2/3 seats :)

Apparently it can be got for 140 not the 400 done shops are asking! Unless the airline are familiar with the harness they may ask you to hold them any way!

That seat looks really interesting ,my lot have all had 3 seats each .(baby ,ext rear facing ,forward facing )https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01DU74HCG?ie=UTF8&tag=prie0f-21&linkCode=xm2&camp=1634&creativeASIN=B01DU74HCG looks very reasonable too .

Looks like my seat is not approved, no mention of aircraft approval on the certification sticker. Also its too wide for aer lingus as they allow max 17" wide.

Managed to get one on eBay for a reasonable price after. Have another child on the way so hopefully it'll be used a few times!

I looked at getting the AmSafe CARES harness last year but researched it and read that the German TUV Rheinland institute do not recommend it and I decided to buy the Britax Eclipse for 90e (newer model is aircraft approved, older model needs an kit for 20e to be bought) and used that instead.

    (page 80 https://www.easa.europa.eu/system/files/dfu/Final%20Report%20EASA%202007.C.28.pdf )

I was going to buy the Kiddy Guardianfix but at the time it looked too wide but since then they have told me that were it matters it is only .5cm wider (so .25cm on either side) than Ryanair suggests, so maybe it would fit. Britax Eclipse carseat was great as my wriggly boisterous 18 month old slept for most of the journey back and forth.

The stork exchange @DUB airport rent the AMSAFE harness for €20, we rented it for a recent trip, easy to use, 2 year old didn't mind using it too much
