It appears no attempt was made to shoot down the missile.

Japanese authorities have continued with the evacuation alert as they anticipate further missile launches.

And where exactly do you evacuate to when a missile flies overhead ...presumably heading out into the open sea

To the designated evacuation shelters, until the evacuation advisory is lifted.

I'd be surprised if North Korea launches more missiles over the course of the next few hours. That would be really brazen.

That makes no sense whatsoever.. How exactly has Japan brought it on themselves? And Trump? Seriously? Explain. I gotta hear this logic.

Logic, you're in the wrong thread.

*that post was sarcasm, in the spirit of some of the previous nonsense.

    Also over Japan...

Where are these missiles going? What's the target? Does it just fly over Japan and fly back like a boomerang? Genuinely don't understand.

Wasteful, but they probably have f*ck loads to waste, which is a message itself I guess.

Just to put it in perspective since Trump gave his "fire and fury" talk NK has fired 3 missiles and conducted it's largest nuclear test so far.

    So much winning.

Wonder if they will run out of food before they run out of rockets

Time enough to blast NK off the face of the earth and be done with all this.

They should be anihilated for taking the world by hostage

The launch missiles can contain warheads, they split up almost in space then come back down through the atmosphere. These missiles North Korea are firing don't contain destructive materials, they're just tests but no doubt expensive tests. This youtube video really explains it well, they even contain balloons as decoys so the anti missile lasers in space allow some of the real ones to get through. Around the 4 minute mark is where the missile separates.

I saw a documentary and it revealed that everything in their supermarkets is fake, to deceive Westerners. Might've been a film actually.

Are you really so thick as to blame Trump? This has been going on for a long time.

What do you want him to do exactly? Bend over and ignore the problem like previous administrations or actually do something about it? With people like you it's impossible to win.

Oddly reports are saying the missile was fired from the Capital, Pyongyang. That's something new.

Actually the last ICBM fired during a test was from there also. This was coming this test.

According to the BBC it reached an altitude of 770km, so in all likelihood it travelled above Japanese airspace.

Trump should not be making daft comments he can't back up. He put himself in to a corner with that.

    Basic political error.

North Korea conducted conducted nuclear tests way back back in 2006, and have continued to do so.

This shíte is nothing new. NK pokes and prods, it's the only way their dear leader keeps control of the people through propaganda and fear.

The question remains, do you want the US to do nothing and let it continue or should something be done, because previous attempts at sanctions and other counter measures haven't deterred them from firing missiles.

    Yes but that is irrelevant.

Do you think Trump was acting responsibly with his "fire and fury" comment?

Never mind the political delinquency of it but the practical implications of what he said with that remark are the most serious any US president has made since WW2.

He talked about "fire and fury the likes of which the world has never seen". So he must mean greater than the two atomic bombs dropped on Japan then?

The man is suppose to be the President of the United States for goodness sake.

A bit of cop on with language wouldn't go a miss.

That is why he is now in a hole with this. He backed himself in to a corner.

And? Its how ICBM's work. Drop multiple warheads over an area form high altitudes.

Japan is warning its citizens to report and not to touch anything that looks suspicious as it could be a failed nuclear warhead.
