They have vastly improved since then

The US and Japan would be crazy to use their missile defence systems against these proposed launches (which are supposed to land in the water and not actually hit Guam) unless they're 90% certain that the missile defense systems will work correctly.

If NK fire all four missiles at once, they will probably get at least one to it's target.

THAAD has been very successful so far in it's flight tests, but these were under lab conditions where they knew exactly where the target was going to be how would it fare against a short notice launch of multiple missiles of unknown trajectory?

If they try to intercept them and fail, it will be a massive propaganda coup for the North Koreans

Trump has just dared Kim to fire his missiles.

There is absolutely no reason to escalate this to the point of nuclear brinkmanship.

    What an idiot.

Of course Trump has he is a man child. We got two leaders who will launch nuclear war, it's a scary time we live in. There is no strong leaders like a President Kennedy to protect us this time.

This ''war'' is never going to happen. It is just the usual my dad is bigger than your dad rhetoric from both sides.

Times have changed. The North testing missiles could from now on be used as an excuse to start a war. Trump is stupid he has made war more likely now. The North will never strike first.

Didn't the North invasion lead directly to this situation ,

    The north remembers.

No both countries planned to invade each other. Both sides bad as each other. Trump better be smart on this! Trump starts shooting down missiles that are not heading towards land could be seen as an act of war by the North and maybe China?

Trump has been very presidential this week. He's kept the back channels open with NK and at the same time he's been rightfully harsh with the murderous disgusting North Korean regime.

    Your over thinking it through,

Too many rich people , in America, china and russia want a nuclear war ,

There was people who said WW1 and WW2 and other wars would never happen, but it happened anyway. We don't have sane leaders today. Trump and Kim will not stop threatening each other.

Presidential to threaten to wipe out North Korea, with nuclear weapons?. This shouting match all started when Trump threatened North Korea first. You confused to why the North even made the threat against Guam.

Trump didn't threaten anybody with nuclear weapons.
This is going on long before trump decided enough is enough.

Sorry i won't be discussing things with you until you can openly admit you faked a statement made by president Trump yesterday. Can you admit that.

Actually Kim Jong Un is playing Trump like a fish on the line.

Trump is behaving exactly as Kim wants him to....any North Koreans who had doubts about their government line that America wants to commit another genocide on them, have now well and truly had those doubts quashed.

You can be sure the North Korean people are now 100% behind Kim.

Kim doesn't need to do anything now other than keep annoying the Orange clown for amusement..he has already proven his point.

    The timeline this week.

Two supersonic nuclear bombers flew out of Guam on Monday and circled the Korean Peninsula (first warning or threat to the North) Tuesday The Washington post released a intelligence assessment that the North had 60 miniaturized nukes. Next Trump at a meeting after he got asked about this, threatened the North with fire, fury and power, the likes of which the world has never seen ( he was talking about a nuclear strike) North threatens to fire missiles near Guam. Since then Trump has threatened North Korea 3 more times with war.

He may have implied nuclear war(in your view) but he didnt threaten NK with nuclear war.
He threatened NK with fire, fury and power the likes of which has never been seen before....no mention of nuclear, you can draw your own conclusions to what he meant and ill draw mine.

You upset i added war in when he was talking about war and striking against Korea? It not like war has no context here?

Most of the media think he did too. And the case for this being correct, was made even stronger, when he boasted about America nuclear strength the very next day and has since.

Looking at the demeanour of the two of them on TV....Trump looks scared and unnerved

while Kim looks as cool as ice .

China has already made overtures and asked America to stop their military exercises with South Korea. Americans so far have not replied, why not? China said the North will stop missile tests in exchange? Those military exercises are a provocation they happen every year.

Yeah good old Kim. He's a top guy.

How long will it be before we see UCD students waving NK flags outside the US embassy.

Why don't the US just alter the gps co-ordinates of Guam so it's North Korea so when the missiles are fired they are returned to sender?

After 134 pages, about the same subject we don't need to clarify!

The missile in the water near Guam threat is a complete red herring. If Kim wanted to pick a more achievable US target, he could suggest one of the many US bases in South Korea. It's brinkmanship, pure and simple, and probably would not get so much hysteria press if Twit Trump was not president. Any other president would ignore the BS coming from North Korea.

I'm beginning to wonder if the US has decided that there is no diplomatic solution and that actually the only way to prevent North Korea being able to hit the Continental United States with nuclear weapons is by removing the regime.

Putting it bluntly the US may have decided that it now needs to go to war with North Korea, this is no other way. Obviously they can't strike first otherwise it may not be just North Korea they end up fighting so it's almost as though they are attempting to goad North Korea into firing the first shot.

North Korea would just have to turn the missile to a bomb?

If there is any war it's South Korea that will be leveled.
