Just a Luna model but yeah, most people would have just bought an Avensis for not much more.

Cheap Jag! A bit light on test but worth a punt.

Yet another cheap saloon corolla. 2004, 1.4 petrol, test until Feb 2019, 825 asked.

However hidden number plates would put me off a bit.

Maybe for the brave. €950 Audi TT. 4 months test, looks ok and no mention of faults.

Some amount for car for €950!

5 door hatchback, 1.6 petrol, manual, facelift, high (not the highest though) spec, tested til November. 1900 quid asking.

If I didn't buy my blue baby, I'd be driving to Kilkenny right now to collect that one.

Pity about the valve. Sorry for OT.

The chances of getting classic insurance on one of those is slim. They are good yokes but they are pretty much worthless even in good working order. No one wants them because the age, high tax and because they are not diesel.

Total bs by the seller that its higher spec than the irish equivalent. It's basically a strata corolla with a 1.6 engine.

It was more a tongue in cheek comment.

Very few bought the higher spec back then

Seems legit. MOT history says 90k in 2014.

Is the rear OS door off-colour or is that just the light? And did the extra wheels come off a donor car?

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,917 ✭✭✭✭Toyotafanboi

Yeah there are definitely a lot of things about that car that would have me curious/ concerned. You're average owner won't have 3x spare tyres or a barn full of old mattresses.

Don't think it matters though with a €450 car. If it drives fine it's probably fine.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,280 ✭✭✭commited

Jazz's are great cars - only real main faults are the chocolate gearbox bearings (which will be an obvious grumbling while driving) and the roof drains getting blocked which result in a wet boot.

Bought a new car over the weekend so my trustworthy Corolla is now for sale. This car has brought me on many trips to Waterford, Cork, Dublin, Limerick, Clare (etc.) and hasn't given an ounce of trouble. I reckon I'll regret selling it but it doesn't make *financial* sense at the moment for me to have two cars.

    NCT until February 2019
    Tax until May 2018

    Still remember my first one.
93d4832 I think. Wasn't slow imo and was pretty economical.
Cost me 2 cv joints and that was it.
Most reliable work horse I ever had.
Would put new cars to shame with its reliability.

I have an 01 manual version of this, this one looks very well kept (going purely on pictures, caveat emptor & all that) & very well priced

So much car for the money:

They were a beast of a thing, probably the closest any car ever got to indestructible. We got one in as a trade a few years back, with over 200k on the clock and, being for only for scrap, one of the mechanics jammed down the accelerator to redline it, and then took bets on how long it would last. It took over two hours before a loud bang, followed by a gush of oil and water from under the bonnet signalled the end. But it still ran for another 40 minutes before it died. Toyota hit an engineering peak with these they have never seen since.

Three spare tyres and a barn full of old mattresses, sounds like Mattress Mick :)

The e11 was an even better car than the e10. I know they were pretty much the same car underneath but the e11 was a safer, more comfortable, more economical car and along with the facelift models, later pre facelifts were also better equipped.

E11s also don't suffer from rusty sills, which, athough not too common, did happen to some e10s when they got older.

Hard to say, for 500 lids it’s cheap enough. They’re spacious and great for the school run etc.
Less so in 1.6 petrol for the longer drives. Had to wring it’s neck fully laden at motorway speeds when I had one.
Little to go wrong though, and mostly cheap to fix
Rare finds with no panel damage, so don’t let that put you off at this price!!

You might need to wear sunglasses when driving it because there'll be that many warning lights on in the dash.
