    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/08-antara-nct-5-19-tax-2-19/20657045

    Opel Antara
    145k
    Taxed till Feb
    Nct till may
2200 so should be got at upper limit of budget
I'd actually trust, as much as I can and that's never a lot, the mileage on this given seller has other cars advertised with very high mileage on them.

Edit: it does seem tax is based on the old system though

97% of 08 Antaras were registered before July.

I didn't even know there was Antara.

Took me over 10 years to see one :)

You wouldn't condone that, would you ???

    What do you mean?

Opels of that generation must have the cheapest plasticky dashboards known to man. That alone puts me off them, never mind all their other faults.

The old 407 is gone. Sad to see her go!

2.5 tax isn’t the worst either at €1080.

    Opinions on this?
Supposed FSH, factory xenons (rare enough if I’m not mistaken). Years test. Nice color too.
It’s an English motor so the 228km could be 228 miles but if you got a year out of her it wouldn’t be too bad

If I remember correctly those 2 liter Diesel engines are soft enough

What's with the big keypad on the dash?

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,644 ✭✭✭✭punisher5112

What's with the big keypad on the dash?

For the rockets and machine guns.

I'm not sure but could it be a phone kit?

I wonder is this the bxe engine? Think that's the dodgy one isn't it.

    BXE is 1.9.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,136 ✭✭✭James Bond Junior

Oil pump and injectors were troublesome in those 2.0 tdi but if it has made it this far I'd say it would be OK. I had two of them and bar an egr valve going in one they were pretty decent save for being very noisy and unrefined.

Ah cool I couldn't honestly remember.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,812 ✭✭✭✭bear1

The 170 version also has serious faults. 1.9 I think is the safest bet.

What's with the big keypad on the dash?

That’s a genuine VW phone keypad.

Is it the oil pump hex shaft one? Seen a couple of cars killed with that one.

So little of those original Kas left on the road, terrible rust killed most of them off.

  • Registered Users Posts: 22,306 ✭✭✭✭Esel

I suggested a Ka to my niece for her first car.

She said "No, it looks like a tent!"

    Not your ornery onager

A family member managed to park one up in a tree a few years back

Beetle for under 500 quid, with about 6 weeks of NCT, but it has 98,000 miles on it now, and had 104,000 in Feb last year when NCT'd!

So, it's either clocked, or they put up around 60,000 miles on it in a year and they mixed up km's and miles :D:D

(OR it should have been 104,000kms when NCT'd last year, still meaning it did about 40,000 miles this year)

Seller needs to be more careful with their data.
