What's not to love? A 98 Micra, tested and taxed, in a rather fetching shade of blue, only 66k miles and 550 euro.

    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/nissan-micra-1-0-only-66k-taxtest/21137817

Trying to find an insurer that will insure it for one.

A corolla or a civic are the safest bets really

I wouldn't say way off the mark at all especially with a full test.

The engine size will count against it but automatic hatchbacks under 1k are selling well at the minute on donedeal for some reason.

There must be an increasing number of people with auto only licences.

Thanks; I was a bit disappointed to find they didn't have a little minter of an EP80 Starlet waiting for me at the convent gates :P

I'll throw it up here with a proper ad after I get a ticket on it anyway

So many audis of that era with worn buttons, wonder if they are easy to do up as it would annoy me no end.

You can get stickers on eBay/Adverts for the radio and climate control. Job looks a bit too fiddly for me, I can live with them.

Whoever did the write up is quite the salesperson, they point out it's got a rear view mirror and windscreen wipers.

    Nice car.

Nice look to it, pictures show it in an ok light, not sure theyre great on the aul mpg, wheels look a bit rough and the car might not be so clean in person.
Mileage is 132kmiles, but it seems to have missed an NCT in 2018, I thought at first it might be a bad thing but based on the current mileage it seems to have been driven on which is probably a preferable situation.
Anyone know what the engines are like? belt etc, I know of someone who has a cleaner, possibly newer looking one in an estate, so maybe thats why Im thinking its a bit shabby, but the price? not too bad, anything to shave off that would anyone think?

I see a lot of Peugeot 207s of that age/price for sale. If you're looking for something around that price are they okay? I bought an Astra for that price recently and got badly burned by it overheating and dying almost as soon as Id bought it but I'm in desperate need of a cheap car atm. I'm in Dublin but I've seen a few of these Peugeots and hear conflicting reports.

  • Registered Users Posts: 73,455 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

Yeah, the 207 is quite a good car overall. The big downside with them is the 1.4 tax and the fact that that they’re only 60bhp.

So they're not really cheap, cheerful or fun so.

It depends on the spec. The basic petrol 1.4 S has the ancient 75 b.h.p. engine which is slow but reliable. The higher spec SE - ST versions have the 92 b.h.p. 16 valve unit. This engine is prone to head gasket failure if not maintained properly but gives a much smoother drive. I don't know about the diesel version.

Always liked the shape of those Leons. Used to have an auld 1.4 petrol meself.

30k in tax paid on that since new.

You’re right about that, for some reason I thought they were only 60 bhp.
We sold a few of these as ex rentals back in the day, they were available so cheap at the time but they all were the basic S model that didn’t even have rear headrests. They were very slow for a 1.4 and somehow managed to be 100kg heavier than the bigger 307. They were way better built though, but I’d imagine the mechanicals must have been the same.
For a car that’s that old, they don’t feel that much different to a present day supermini.

Will you please stop putting up these tempting offers!
Is it worth it? 150k miles seems like a fair bit, Id be tempted but Id have no where to put the dog except up front.
Doesnt look like an import plate!?, ad says just drove back from London?

My parents have this with nearly 140k on the clock, 100% reliable. They are brilliant little cars

They are nice looking cars, I prefer the newer model look, but dearer, there seems to be a bit of a range across the prices, maybe its that its a quattro?
150k miles probably isnt high (for the year), would prefer less, seen lower mileage ones for less, very tempting, Im guessing they are asking with wiggle room in as people try bargain down. Whats the timing belt interval? I like the red leather, wheels a bit meh but theyd do, better than damaged ones. Id be tempted for something a little bit less ordinary, more space overall would be nicer.
