Seller has about 6 other vehicles for sale too so I'd doubt he's undervalued it.

Hi, Selling my own car. Good clean car, low mileage for age. A few age related marks but nothing serious. Welcome your thoughts.

Any opinions on this? Currently driving a 2004 320Ci with an NCT just up and just out of tax. The fuel cost is killing me as well. Currently €60 a week. I'd rather not spend the money required on what i have but put it towards something more economical.

Why are you hiding your name on the ad? Would turn me straight off.
Add note on the tax or just take a photo of discs in the window.
A photo of the NCT disc would help buyers confirm that your stated 187k km is correct.

How about LPG (asking is just over 2k)

Not sure i would be doing enough mileage to justify lpg. I do about 250-300 a week, nearly all of it on the M50. Any idea what the V50s are like in general? I had an 01 S40 a couple of years ago and found it very comfortable.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,745 ✭✭✭zg3409

Just beware many LPG stations are only open office hours (conversion centres) and they are few and far between. You typically get slightly less distance per fill than from the petrol tank, you need to notify insurance etc.

If you can get to one daily, then it might work out as half price fuel.

Friend of mine got one of these. endless issues with the DPF. and limp mode. you need to completely reprogram them. Fine if you can find someone to do it, otherwise a good car

Hi, thanks for feedback. I have added my name an oversight on my behalf. I have also added a picture of the NCT disk.

The tax is up so rather than mention that I have left out any comment on it.
    Cheers

Hi, thanks for the feedback. It was clean when I left the car wash.:D
However the joys of country roads and the rain put pay to that. I will hand wash on Friday and retake. Cheers

A 01 S40 is an entirely different car. I had a 2006 S40 a good few years back. Well build solid car but they are small on the inside and boot being based on the Ford Focus. Electrics can be very iffy on them too and avoid Volvo dealers as they charge a hefty price for parts and servicing. Suspension bits are prone to wear too, control arm bushings needing replacing frequently.

Also if there is a warning on the dash for "anti skid servicing" then the ABS/DTC module is most likely faulty which is a good couple of hundred euros to replace with a reconditioned unit. Also make sure it comes with two working keys, a replacement is very expensive and is a main dealer job to recode it to your car.

That 159 is not 1.8T, but a regular MPI.

I'd love to know how he arrived at the asking price of €2,111. 1.8 petrol auto Avensis is not the most desirable car in the world. 90,000 km probably means 90,000 miles if that's genuine given how worn looking the headlight lenses are. Some poorly repaired and damaged panels and mismatching paintwork. Gap between the bonnet and front bumper doesn't look like it's lining up correctly either. All the hallmarks of an ex rental car that been treated a bit rough over the years.

The 159 looks tidy but not sure why the seller is listing it as a 1.8t as that engine doesn't have a turbo.

  • Registered Users Posts: 276 ✭✭Murt102

Going by photo location / way the ad is described, the seller of that Avensis seems to be selling a number of more cars too. Strange that they have set up a number of DD accounts and are not just using the one? Definitely some sort of car dealer anyways.

You've put me right off both of those. Cheers :)

    Back to the search then.

Dealer, under 1K not a ex taxi, too good to be true or a bargain?

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,917 ✭✭✭✭Toyotafanboi

The tax and NCT discs say "exempt" on them. I wonder what's it's story is?

It's not especially a bargain considering it's an 11 year old Hyundai diesel with a quarter of a million on the clock with 3 months tax and test that may not be valid anyway.

    Lol at "luxury car" also.

My barge pole wouldn't be going near it. That's not to say it's not a good car though, I'd say it'd clean up nice but I'd want more off the asking price.

Automatic so could have hand controls for a disabled driver which have since been removed. Wouldn't like to try explain the disc to a member of the Gardai though and I'd imagine it would have to be taxed correctly by any prospective owner.

  • Registered Users Posts: 51,243 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

Probably taken in as part of a scrappage deal against a new Hyundai and then sold onto the trade.

Re motor tax - Do disabled drivers qualify for exempt motor tax? If so either that or it was an island car which are exempt also. That exemption would end straight away once sold to either a person without a disability or if it's not used on an island.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,917 ✭✭✭✭Toyotafanboi

Are disability/ island cars NCT exempt too?

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,615 ✭✭✭grogi

Island cars are exempt, as long as they don't drive in mainline (sic!) Ireland.

Don't see any reason why a disability car should be NCT exempt... If any it should be tested even more frequently...

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,917 ✭✭✭✭Toyotafanboi

Hard to picture that Sonata clocking up that mileage on an offshore island in fairness.
