The reality is that the Fiesta is worthless for a number of reasons. The -> 2001 model is now very very outraged and undesirable, that coupled with the 15+ year old car insurance rule makes it's target market really really small.

That and even with a budget as modest as €650 you are competing with the likes of this.

It's the newer shape, still in the insurance friendly age bracket, tested until 2018 and has alloys, leccy windows, sunroof etc. Yeah she's 1.4 and has a couple of dents but I'd take it hands down over the previous model.

Your Fiesta is probably a good little car and may have a bit of life still to give but it has no value, unfortunately.

Hard to compete with an "absolutely good car".

Hi all, what am I doing wrong here? Fab car at ridiculous price and no interest. Have dropped price to 550. Any advice?

Your problem is that people find it hard to insure cars over 15 years old these days, a lot of insurance companies are refusing to insure them.

Lately i've seen a lot of decent cars just left in garders considered worthless because of their age.

My focus is now the same. It's a 2004 taxed, nct and a spotless little car but worth so little and not a huge consumer group it's probably better off left in the garden as a spare incase my other car breaks down.

Would it be worth advertising it for sale?

    Of course it would.

Doesn't that say a lot about the world we live in, when perfectly usable items are cast aside for stupid reason's ? What happened to reduce and reuse ??

Insurance companies won't make huge profits and the government won't make money on VAT and VRT on new models

It's too old. You'll have to further reduce your price by a good bit. Try 350.

I used to buy them for 50-100 a pop and put an nct on them very easily

    325i, 1 owner, NCT to 6/18 - €1750

First and surname is a very good sign in an ad too

Stunning example. Hard to believe it's 12 years old.

That BM is lovely. Never a big fan of BM or that model.
    But that's a lovely find.

This post from Facebook is insane.

I wouldn't pay that type of money for that type of starlet.

I'm not 100% sure on the nct as per ad.

€1200 for a 92 crap box with no nct

Ya but I wasn't referring to the price and rather the post. I don't see anything insane about it even though the car is overpriced. It seems it will be tested too btw so it should be sold with a new test.

NCT'd, washed and we'll presented, they'd probably get close to their asking price.

As it is at the moment, 500 ish. 5 door is less desirable too.

For a 25 year old starlet?

If it was a boxy starlet then no problem, or the bubble shape before it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,917 ✭✭✭✭Toyotafanboi

I would confidently say so. Just because you wouldn't pay it, doesn't mean it won't go for it.

Old Starlets give better interest than money in the bank. I'd love another one if I'd somewhere to put it.

Most likely a 4 speed manual?

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,917 ✭✭✭✭Toyotafanboi

Depends. A lot of (maybe all of?) The 5 doors were 1.3 with a 5 speed.

Would the 1.3 be badged XLi rather than XL in 1992?

I really don't understand this affection. They are too ordinary to be classics, and are too unsafe (lack of airbags, crumble zones, abs etc) to be daily drivers.

    I think XLi were 94 and 95?

And the likes of a ford escort isn't too ordinary?

Lots of dreamers on FB with cars for sale, dont know how anyone could sell a car there/why anyone would go that route to buy one.
