Ah come on, we have every right to disrespect the Gardaì!! :pac:

You don't have any right to be disrespectful to anyone. Critical - sure, disrespectful - no.

Indeed we have. It is a corner stone of democracy to be able to be critical of the state and it's organs.

We are not in Turkey yet.

    The Giblets?

Although the guard may still request a paper one it may save you hassle similar to the op's.

I showed him the picture of the disc. Told him that I know it's not ideal but he wasn't interested. Only then I offered him to stay there until someone will bring the paperwork over. He wasn't having any of it.

As I said I do realize I was in the wrong. Didn't deny it for a split of a second. My earnings however are none of his business. Raising his voice was not ok. Asking questions and not giving a chance to fully answer them was unnecessary and unprofessional.

Anyway. Probably a bad day. Not really interested about his reasoning behind it at this stage.

    Thanks for your opinions

A Garda may 'request' a paper certificate but you have no obligation to produce or even possess one. The one on your phone is sufficient.

OP - it's fairly straightforward - you were in the wrong so the Garda got a 'power horn'.
