I'd just like some opinions on what I've come across in relation to standard door sizes versus what the minimum clear widths are as per TGD M for dwellings.

Just a refresher;

TGD M - Table 4 - Habitable rooms on entrance level
Min clear width / Corridor width
775mm / 1050mm (900mm if approached head on)
800mm / 900mm

Doors to rooms only accessible by stairs = 750mm min. clear opening

When I compared the above to standard door sizes, and taking into account frames, handles, tolerances etc. I have found that if the door opens against a wall, even to comply with the 750mm min opening, an off standard door size needs to be used. Is this correct? And even if it can open past 90 degrees, a 34" door (864mm) is needed. See below rough calcs;

Standard door sizes / design door size / structural ope required / actual clear width open 90 degrees / clear width if door can open past 90 degrees

2'10" (34") 864mm + 6mm tolerance / 870mm door / 950mm structural ope / 745 width / 810 width
2'8" (32") 813mm + 7mm tolerance / 820mm door / 900mm structural ope / 695 width / 760 width
2'6" (30") 762mm + 8mm tolerance / 770mm door / 850mm structural ope / 645 width / 710 width
2'4" (28") 711mm + 4mm tolerance / 715mm door / 795mm structural ope / 590 width / 655 width
2'2" (26") 660mm + 5mm tolerance / 665mm door / 745mm structural ope / 540 width / 605 width
2'0" (24") 610mm + 5mm tolerance / 615mm door / 695mm structural ope / 490 width / 555 width

Design door + 2 x 40mm frame = structural ope
Design door - 45mm door thickness - 65mm door handle - 15mm rebate = Clear width 90 degrees open
Design door - 45mm door thickness - 15mm rebate = Clear width opening past 90 degrees
