    Pogba MOTM

He was awesome, brilliant to watch

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,225 ✭✭✭✭J. Marston

    Finishing aside, very good performance.

  • Another excellent performance from Pogba
    MOTM IMO
Should of had at last 2 assists

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,196 ✭✭✭✭RobbingBandit

    That'll do Pog, that'll do.

Good away win, great goal by Rashford but should have won by a few more but the story of the season and missed chances continues

Should be going to kill the tie off early at OT

Decent performance but fuk me we need someone that can finish chances so bad.

Hopefully rashford and young be ok for next week leave martial up front for arsenal and we have Mata fresh enough too hopefully.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,690 ✭✭✭ElChe32

Great to get the win and the clean sheet, should have had 4 or 5 - again our finishing has been atrocious.

Pogba was outstanding, hats off to Bailly and Blind who I thought had an excellent game. We completely nullified Celta's gameplan. Hopefully finish the job early in the return leg.

Yay we won but we should have really put the tie to bed there. Celta are absolute dogs*it not to mention their fans.

Taking chances is really a big issue right now

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,388 ✭✭✭✭Jayop

Much easier than we expected even with the ref being a Homer. Pogba was awesome and our finishing was poor. Standard stuff really.

All in all a good performance and a great score to take to old Trafford.

When pogba starts getting the luck and gets goals he's going to be some beast. Great performance, ran the show.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,521 ✭✭✭Giggsy11

Pogba was very good, so clear the difference between when he plays and not. He creates chances and also moves the ball very intelligently (like the pass for the free kick). He used his physical strength superbly.

Blind was very good, hardly put a foot wrong. Very clean tackles and marking players.

Celta were outclassed physically, all we lack is more spark up front. Mourinho has done a great job with this team defensively.

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,754 ✭✭✭✭RobertKK

We will be better next season with Griezmann and Belotti.

Pogba was class. Ran the show, worked hard and his passing was excellent as always. He was roaring at Darmian all game to get forward and support, which was 100% a valid complaint, but it shows that he can be a driving force and a leader in that team.

We'll thrash them 1-1 at old trafford

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,586 ✭✭✭jaykay74

Be an interesting team at the weekend. Martial/Mata need games. Give Rooney a run. Carrick maybe. De Gea obv. Most of the defense should be rested.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,006 ✭✭✭edgecutter

Also someone needs to get a pair of glasses for Lingard. If he isn't blazing over the bar he aims his shots at the keeper.

Considering they were being bogged up as this great cup team, I was thoroughly unimpressed by them. We should have won by four or five.

Jose says Rashford, work and works in training and spends a half hour after training practicing free kicks.

We should play our back up players like De Gea :pac:

Seriously though, we should rest players who played today. Players like Mata and Martial needs games so 60 mins or so should be good.

Problem is we dont have any RB so Valencia will play. For CB we have 2 players returning from injury.

    Another clean sheet for Romero,

Beating the already dead horse and echoing some here, United couldn't hit a barn door, and they should've won comfortably..

Particularly when they went a goal down and didn't really commit players forward. They did a lot of play acting and the salt from their players and management towards the end could have preserved a full pig for months.

Pogba was excellent and put a goal on plate for Mike. Really should have scored 3 or 4.
Bailly was immense again loved that header where he basically dived into the forward boot.Fearless

Is that the second or third free that Rashford scored this season?

Would've been great if United won by 5, when was the last time United won by 5 actually?

But now attention turns to Arsenal on Sunday afternoon, and hopefully 3 points.

Rashford shot that was really well saved
    Lingard effort that he fluffed
    Mkhi chance that was saved
Lindard effort from the Rashford ball that was saved
    Lingard blast wide

    Anything else?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,953 ✭✭✭JamboMac

Is Jesse Lingaard capable in commanding a place here long term, he's shown bits, but very few really and at times he can just go missing.

  • Didn't have much to do but he did it well!

He made a real important save from a shot from Sisto
And he was excellent in general, claimed everything in the six yard box and distribution was good

I think not but a good squad option .Need to buy a proper out and out winger this summer.

Liverpool and City must be seriously concerned about having to secure third now. Shame we can't really benefit from that added pressure.

What are the chances of champions league and relegation playoff games once the season ends?

It was another typical Romero performance tbh. I was more impressed with that save given he'd done nothing for about 80 minutes and he shot was deflected.

He's a very very good goalie.

Nice by Rashford, not going to be intimidated :D

Technical problem which could be resolved with a $ or a 9mm apparently. I chipped in for the $ solution but the game was over.

    Finished Utd 1 nil up?

    Short answer, NO!

Far too often he is either average or poor, but somehow is given leeway because 'he has good movement' and 'he works hard'. United will be in the same predicament next year if he is seen as a starter for this team. 1 goal and 3 assists is pitiful for a guy that plays in an attacking position.

Do we though? We don't really play with wingers.

Winger/wide player for front 3 is needed someone to stretch teams .Martial and Mata played out wide of a front 3 a lot this season but neither are at there beat there.

Playing with wingers is outdated, full backs are the new wingers and CMs usually drift wide to help them.

I don't think he was seen as a starter last summer. He played the Charity Shield because he played in the FA cup final, did well in that game and put himself in the plans. He's played more this year because the other players who would play in his position have either been injured or just plain crap.

Like I know we're all going on at Lingard tonight cos he missed a few chances, but he was far better tonight that Mkhi who missed the easiest chance of all.
