I’m not sure whether it has just been added or has it just popped back in my recommends, but DEAD SET is on Netflix. It’s a Charlie Brooker show well worth a watch.

It’s literally a horror series based in and around a Big Brother house. Any early 00s BB fans will enjoy how it is produced.

I loved this! I really enjoy Charlie Brooker shows.... to my shame I recognised some of the BB housemates from the early 00s! :D

+1 for Rake. It reminds me a bit of Californication, which I got bored of in season 2, so hopefully this can have better lasting power, as I've just finished season 1. It is bordering on silly with yer man banging anyone and everyone, and seemingly winning every single case. Will see how it pans out, but so far it's enjoyable!

    Mudbound

A post WW II Shakespeareanesque interfamilial tragedy set in US deep South. Very fine actors well directed telling a gut wrenching story of love, loss, toil, hope, desperation and deep deep racism. Powerful authentic stuff that might help one understand where Black Lives Matter and Colin Kaepernick are coming from, only a couple of generations later. Skip Back Panther and give this a watch.

    8.5 / 10

I see the last kingdom season 3 is out on Monday. I watched the first two seasons a while back and loved them. The trailer for this season looks good. The character Brida is one of my favourites on the show.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,397 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

Also, I tried to watch the newest season of prison break(the reboot) and having been a huge fan of the original show(it's the one show me and my two brothers ever watched together every Monday on rte) and the I just didn't like it due to having to forget the extra episode we saw here about Michael living after he was electrocuted.

Said I would watch 1 episode of Dogs but on my 3rd.
They are really nice stories to watch and who can say no to watching a series with dogs in it. :)

1st episode is about Corrine (who has epilepsy) she's getting a service dog called Rory.
2nd episode is about a husky dog called Zeus - his owner Ayham escaped from Syria as he was going to be drafted into the army. and now lives in Berlin. With help from his friends, he tries to get Zeus to Berlin.
3rd episode follows a dog called Ice who lives with a fisherman and his family in Lake Como.

Ozark is one of the best shows that Ive seen since breaking bad
Its so moody and atmospheric and the music and soundtracks I think really give it an edge over a lot of other shows
Does anyone know what the music/song is thats used throughout the season during times of impending doom or really important scenes? Its like bell chimes and drum beats, I lovee it, but couldnt find it online

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,032 ✭✭✭✭anewme

    Snap!

Just watched the first 3 episodes of Dogs.

    Loved loved loved it.

The episode on Zeus in Syria was gripping and the one about Ice and the Italian family was just beautiful.

Really well made documentary series that captured the subjects perfectly.

Hope tomorrow's 3 are as good!!

Not quite a hidden gem though. ;)

Use Shazam or Soundhound to find the music.

    We're all in this psy-op together.🤨

Watched it last night. It's good but very odd.

Left me with lots of questions, especially the last story.

Shimmer Lake - a crime thriller about a bank job in a small US town. The story unfolds in reverse, starting on Friday from one character's POV, then working backwards through to Monday (with the job happening on Monday night) with each day focusing on a different character's perspective. The structure is used cleverly to steadily drip information to the viewer (and in a few cases, to set up gags) without feeling gimmicky, the direction is good and there are some nice moments of humour in the dialogue.

I watched Hangman (2017) today. A single digit number on RT does not deter my willingness to watch and love really terrible films. Maybe I've always just loved the way Pacino talks and delivers his lines, but this film was watchable. By no means an actual good film, but I enjoyed it more than other 2017 titles like say, Transformers 5: The Last Knight or The Mummy.
