The problem with the Netflix doc is that it was made by Fcuk Jerry media, the same social media company that ran the ad campaign for the Fyre festival and who were involved in some seriously dodgy behaviour.

And the problem with the Hulu one is that it gave Billy McFarland quarter of a million for his interview and didn't really show the impact to the locals that the Netflix one did. It's probably worth watching the two of them for a more well rounded picture of the whole thing but I did think the Netflix one had the more interesting talking heads. The Hulu one was good for showing Fcuk Jerry's involvement in the whole thing.

Fantastic and unsettling horror that everyone needs to see..

Really enjoying Umbrella Academy, Robert Sheen is fantastic. He's like a crazier version of Nathan in Misfits. Good soundtrack so far also

I tried The Good Place and Schitts Creek but didn’t like either, settled on Master of None and that’s much better.

I also Gave it’s always sunny one last try and I just can’t get into it. Despite some killer one liners here and there, it’s just too silly and OTT for my liking.

Season two of master of none is one of the best tv show I’ve seen

Go back and give schitts creek another go though!!

Just finished this. Loved it. Robert Sheehan is really great in it. The inner teenage emo that’s left in me loves the fact Gerard Way created this. :D

Agreed, Get Out is brilliant. I thought it was so much better on second viewing too, so many clues I'd missed or not understood the first time

    Kingdom is very very good.

Absolutely raging its only 6 episodes long though. I probably should check this in future before I binge watch something.

Is that the series with Stephen Fry and Hermione Norris? That was brilliant! (and I think there was a second series, but I never got to see the third, they might have cancelled it, or something).

Nope nor is it the one about MMA (brilliant though wont be on NF although the man star has his own documentary series on NF- Frank Grillo)

Started yesterday and 6 episodes in already!

Loving it, great to see Robert Sheehan back on the screen in a big role too! Hopefully kicks starts the career back after a few failed movies.

DeNiro hasn't made a decent movie in decades so I'm trying not to get too excited about this one..

Yeah I know what you mean. I suppose it has just as much a chance of being terrible as great. Really hope Scorsese can pull it off and it's not just a gimmicky coming together of old screen icons.

    Dirty John: The Dirty Truth

    Mamma Mia

He seems to take any oul guff tbh.
Although he was in Silver linings playbook which was excellent (2012), and the wizard of lies (2017) was good although that was a TV movie.

Maybe so but Scorcese hasn't made a bad film yet that I'm aware of. Maybe some of his 90's output wasn't amazing I suppose.

I'm enjoying this but I have no idea why, all the character relationships feel super stiff and forced. Which may be the point?

    Some of this gets explained.
Diego wants to be Number One and is always trying to do things ahead of One.
    Seven is always forced away
Five thinks he's too smart for the rest of them
One is the only one that stayed and has issue with the others over this.

I'm only up to Ep 5 I think, so this is what I've picked up on so far.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,375 ✭✭✭✭kunst nugget

The kid playing Five in Umbrella Academy is just brilliant. Really enjoying the show - watching the last in the series tonight.

Yeah Goodfellas, Cape Fear and Casino were shít. ;)

Can't wait for this. The boys will have their A Game. First time Scorsese has directed Pacino!

Some being the operative word, I was thinking more of Kundun and Bringing out the Dead. Age of Innocence didn't do it for me either. I wouldn't rank Cape Fear as amazing either tbh :pac:

Wow just wow. Just watched Get Out. It's neither fantastic nor unsettling. It's uadulterated predictable clichéd drivel which is riddled with inconsistencies. There's probably a decent idea somewhere in it but it is overshadowed by the woefully executed end product.

    Get Out is fantastic.
Another really great intelligent horror (tho it’s not too scary) film from a few years earlier is “The cabin in the woods”. And “It follows” from a bit more recent was very good too.
Give me a film like this any night before the insufferably long, tedious and utterly pointless “Roma”.

It Follows was Excellent, The Babadook was another really good horror that came out around the same time.
