With Putin, you never know what you're dealing with.

But there has been a perceptible change in attitude towards the West from Lavrov. Much more aggressive and throwing their own ideology back at EU/US to trip them up.

The Crimea thing is sabre-rattling from both sides and worrying.

But those Migs carry new hypersonic anti-ship missiles. US tech cannot intercept them yet.

Baily, a poet, denies ever meeting her in real life.

Despite one neighbor saying he is 90% sure he did introduce them and neighbor on the other side of Sophie saying he was there when they were introduced (latter bit of info is from West Cork podcast, not Murder at Cottage show).

True, true but given the validity of previous eyewitnesses and frankly some very dodgy statements made by a teenager as to Baily making a confession of guilt, I find any so called eyewitnesses unreliable. Remember there was coercion by the Gaurds, a good deal of hear say and precious little physical evidence that linked him to the crime.
I do find it strange that thier paths never crossed given the smaller community setting and location she lived in. I certainly do not remember a larger then life individual such as Baily roaming around the place when I holidayed down there for a few years (tongue in cheek statement). But no more than my family and I there was ay the time quite alot of foreigners (be it blow ins from the Irish cities or from abroad) living down there and it was a bone of contention with locals over various issues. Access / right of ways were being blocked, houses bought up and more than one or two issues with planning permissions, where generational locals were being deneyed planning permission but it was OK for foreigners to get thiers. There was a mixed bunch there at the time- English, French, Dutch and German to name a few. One year there was a large group of New Age Travellers camped out beyond the location in the direction of Bantry Bay, not really welcomed by the local community. A lot of people with no roots in the community.

I'll preface the points below by saying that I don't believe there is enough evidence for a murder conviction
True, true but given the validity of previous eyewitnesses

I'm not sure all interviews can be discredited because of a few bad eggs though. These were interviews (not official statements) given quite recently, I'm not sure why they would perpetuate a falsehood. Again, I am not saying this makes anyone guilty, just that the claim he had never met her is strongly disputed.

It’s all bluff and bluster by Russia, they’re impotent and 25-30 years behind the west in radars, and engine technology. They couldn’t touch the hms defender in Crimea, because that and the two other destroyers one was an Arleigh Burke class destroyer (aegis radar a few miles outside the territorial waters) can track and shoot down hundreds of aircraft and missiles simultaneously.

Here’s a link to a decent balanced peace on the Crimea passage.

The bear might be a bit behind the times, and his claws might be a tad rusty, but I would NEVER underestimate them.In the last 25 years, the Russian forces have pared off the dross and fat and junk and are a lot fitter. Their key divisions have every last hyper-inflated rouble paid into keeping them at such. Their technology learning curve is steep but they are going up it in leaps and bounds. They are also, still the 2nd hyperpower that can obliterate the planet with nukes, and are ahead IMO with their " Satan" ICBM

They probably have as good,if not better hypersonic cruise missiles than the West, which are designed as aircraft carrier killers, which is the US main conventional power. Their new gen of fighters are more than a match for anything the West can put up in the sky, and if they don't have it, they will just build more of something just as good, and kill the quality with quantity.

However, their big problem is like everywhere else , money for R&D and producing this new stuff to be able to field and deploy, and young people to replace in their army.

Still think China is the bigger threat nowadays and will be once they develop a proper blue water navy.

I'm not familiar with civil law here or France , but if it is possible, I'm surprised the Family never took a wrongful death civil action against Baily in regards to financial lean.

Don't know does the French law system of Code Napoleon allow for such? Its a pretty convoluted law system to us who would be used to the English judicial process.

Seeing how the French courts convicted Bailey in his absence with ridiculous 'evidence', I don't have any faith in the French justice system.

I’ll disagree on aircraft, yes in close dog fights a match and better than everything the west have bar the f22 raptor, on a par typhoon, f15, and rafale. The avionics and missile tech isn’t as reliable as western. They don’t have the numbers to match NATO without the usa.

They’d certainly inflict a bloody nose in a confrontation, but it’s doubted they could last the pace in a high intensity conflict unless it resorted to nukes. But in a skirmish they’d hurt nato but after a few days/weeks the west’s standoff missile capability would decimate the Russian airforce. Don’t think nato would encroach much of Russia due to s400 missile system but imagine f35s would not be targetable.

Let’s hope we never have to find out.

Indeed ,quite a lot of dirt,as also why the French and Brits sat on their hands while Soviet Russia helped carve up Poland from the East in Autumn 1939.Or as to why Hitler launched Barbarossa when he did,one of the most vaugest and incomplete German high command plans ever written,if compared to all their other war plans.

Looking back on old newspaper and interweb media (from Sept, Oct, Dem of 2020) and how quickly they dismissed the tin foil hat (as Grizzly said) notion of needing a vaccine passport for everything from social welfare, to dining, to traveling within the 26 counties.

At what point does the term conspiracy theory lose legitimacy considering the number of "conpsiracy theories" over the last 15 months that have actually turned out to be true. From the Government lying to us about PPE, to lockdowns, to vaccine passports.

Whats the deal, and why precisely do we have to have a month of rainbow flags and lgbtq-ei-ei-oh everywhere ? Why not a day or a weekend, but a month ? Adverts on buses, on public hoardings, the local insurance place is completely over the top, you can buy rainbow badges and postcards in the post offices.

St.Patrick gets a day, the men and women of 1916 get a day, Christ gets a day, why is this so deserving of a month  ?

Whistleblower for the NSA has told Fox news in America that the NSA are monitoring and recording/intercepting their e-mails, text, phone calls and other digital communications in an attempt to leak them. Fox news dismissed this claim until the whistleblower read out a conversation had by Fox execs via text and e-mail on a yet to be released story that only the three execs were pivvy to.

If this is true, and its a bold claim to make if its not, then it seems the Obama era of spying on your own is well and truly alive with this adminstration. More accurately it never stopped as the same happened in 2015/6 during the Presidential race.

Is there evidence to suggest it stopped during the trump administration? I doubt they’d stop it either, maybe I’m wrong.

It seems to have hit the main stream media. Tucker Carlson: NSA denies spying on Fox News host https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-57663136

I didn’t know this about tucker Carlson contained in the last paragraph. Abhorrent enough

The Fox show host was also criticised in 2019, after audio recordings emerged of him defending child marriage and making sexual comments about underage girls.

Its the BBC, cherry picking to suit the leftist agenda. Plus the NSA are hardly to going to admit it, as its illegal.

I didn’t see any evidence it did stop under trump and restarted under Biden(or evidence it is happening now or in last 4 years). Just wondering was it easier for an administration to turn a blind eye to it and claim plausible deniability. Being honest, tucker Carlson wouldn’t be the most credible of journalists (I use that term loosely) these days. I prefer to get info from multiple sources and make an informed decision.

He’s an entertainer in the cult of personality politics.

Cmon Man!!... Do you think the FBI, CIA, NSA etc etc answered to Trump? They were actively colluding against him all the way thru his term. The FBI knew the Russian collusion was fake and said and did nothing, especially with Hillary Clinton's server and her willful destruction of evidence of her emails and private server.
Likewise NSA and CIA, who aren't supposed to be spying on US citizens. They are part of the Swamp as well.
