Whats the deal, and why precisely do we have to have a month of rainbow flags and lgbtq-ei-ei-oh everywhere ? Why not a day or a weekend, but a month ? Adverts on buses, on public hoardings, the local insurance place is completely over the top, you can buy rainbow badges and postcards in the post offices.

St.Patrick gets a day, the men and women of 1916 get a day, Christ gets a day, why is this so deserving of a month  ?

Speaking off that, did you see Biden appointed two people to spearhead his campaign against fake news on social media and other platoforms.

The first is Robert Bauer who is probably best known for being the architect behind the debunked Russia Collusion hoax and responsible for the Steele Dossier.

The second is Stephanie Cutter who has a history of making slanderous and outright fabricated allegations against Republicans such as when she accused Mitt Romney of being responsible for the death of a Woman with Cancer which was utterly rubbished by multiple media sources including Washington Post, NY Times, USA Today, etc. She is also adept and running interference for the gaffs of Biden.

These two are going to be responsible for forcing social media platforms to fact check the information as they see fit, and especially those of their political opponents.

I didn’t say it didn’t happen under Obama. That was 5/6 years ago. Accused case against Biden, by an “alleged whistleblower” who knew details of a story half dozen people knew about.
I read foxes take, bbc, cnn, breutbart, Russia today, Al Jazeera, and others. And to be honest it looks like a slight of hand trick with his story. Call me cynical. I try to balance my opinions on facts, reasonable assertions and balance of probability based on all the information available to me.

Funny you mention victim shaming. Seems to be just stating widely reported facts. No one was confirming nsa monitoring not to mention using it as an excuse to spy on Carlson. I don’t condone governments spying on its citizens. We don’t live in the communist eastern block thank god.

I was just asking a legitimate question which no one knows what the answer to is I’m guessing. Wasn’t trying to stoke an argument. Just trying to balance the argument a bit rather than jumping to (Ill informed)conclusions that might have no semblance of truth to them.

Saw a nice Mitsubishi Pajero lWB 97 in Donegal for handy enough money [3000]. Went to see how much it would cost to clear here with VRT calculator.

Almost DOUBLE the asking price!!! 5,290 euros, mostly NOX and emissions tax.:eek:
As usual the poor are being screwed without the lube by the Irish Govt. Some of us do need 4wds than other than to do the school run by in some D4 suburb, and seeing there isn't a worthwhile electric/hybrid 4wd on the market yet. These things are kind of a necessity in country life.

Good luck to anyone who has a NI or UK wagon they want to shift now.Even if they commercialise it. The "pollution tax" will render them unsellable here bar junk value.
Another typical Irish Govt stunt."we are not pushing you at all to do anything, just making it cost-prohibitive for you to continue.to our benefit of course!"

Bubut but what happened with the BSE and mad cow worry that prohibited us saps who might have fancied a Wimpy burger back in the late 80s from giving blood for the rest of our days in Ireland? I used to donate, but on arriving back from the UK in the 90s I was told I was ineligible to donate because of BSE in the UK.
Can't donate now anymore either because I have the Irish blood disease of Hameochromotisis, which apparently 85% of us Irish males have in some shape or form.Too much iron in the blood basically, and the cure is simply to draw blood off you once a week or month depending on severity.Which of course is destroyed.Even the docs and nurses say its a utter waste of blood that once screened could be used again.

    I can bring in, cause I checked it for sh*ts and giggles, a 2012 2.8litre VXR for €1,800. If I want to import a 2012 2.0 Diesel it'll cost me €4,850.

The price of the VXR is €9,000 (with current exchange rate) and with import duties €10,800.

The price of the Diesel is €6,900 (with current exchange rate) and with import buties €11,750.

Checked a few more things. A 2008 Vectra, worth about €1,000 - €1,500 here given current prices, costs €4,490 to bring in. Asking price was £1,200 which translate into about €1,450 and with duties €5,940.

So I started looking for cars in petrol in the same price range, €6k (cost, and duties) and I can import a 2010 Audi A5 sportsback for €6,500, a 2011 Mondeo mk4 in 2.0 Powershift for €6,900, and so on.

Diesel imports are dead. Taxing them out of it to prevent imports, but big engine and powerful petrols are cheap, and widely available in the UK.

    Which is nice. :D

Not funny as in "ha, ha" but funny in that you don't always think of all the issues that this last 15 months of lockdown have created. I would never have considered blood shortages as an issue, as in it wouldn't have crossed my mind.

We were all aware of the ridiculous condition of our health service before this virus hit, but with mental health issues on the rise, cancer patients and a host of other "routine" medical procedures now on the back foot and only getting worse is it any wonder they want to continue lockdowns and delay re-opening.

The health services couldn't cop with it.

Read a few stories recently of parents who have been told their child will have to wait 55 months+ for an appiointment. That is 4 and half years. Problem is the child will be over 18 by the time the appointment comes along and too old to be eligible for it.

I think I said/asked before what kind of health service would we have if they invested the billions they've spent over the last 15 months on PUP, mortage relief, business subsidies, and other schemes, because they forced people out of work, into the health service? Maybe that is too simplistic, but you get the idea.

Im just sceptical at the minute about the claims. I’ll let the story develop before I make a judgement on what to believe.

Just at the minute not plausible for me that it ceased before or during Trump presidency and then started all of a sudden under Biden.

I have never understood why a small country like Ireland for example doesnt shine in certain areas.

Say if we built the best hospitals and invested in research and attracted the best doctors and surgeons etc. Then we would have the best health service in the world for our own and charge everybody else who would flock to the place from around the world to get fixed up. A place of health and surgery excellence. Wouldnt be that hard to do.....or would it.

Who said it ceased? That is just another assumption and as Battlecorp said a foolish one as the NSA would not simply cease while Trump was President.

However as the story is not about Trump, you brought him up again, but about what is supposedly happening under a Biden adminstration.

You brought up the article from the biased BBC which referenced his comments from 2006 on a matter that has nothing to do with the current topic/story. IOW the BBC, and you by referencing them, are basically saying look at what he said before so if its happening its fine or justified.

Once again you're moving the conversation from what I orignally spoke off, namely the spying on Carlson, to comments he made 15 years ago.

I said in an earlier post I’d be surprised if it stopped under trump and started again under Biden.

I referenced the article about Carlson, yes, never said spying is justified on ordinary joe soap without a court warrant. I hadn’t heard the story about Carlson before speaking sexually about children.

FYI the nsa issued a statement in black and white saying they never spied on him, he was never a target.

Ok so who are the victims that were shamed you were referencing? Are you suggesting tucker Carlson was the victim? Or is it shaming him that he’s the target of spying(which it appears he isn’t) And they just threw some horrible truths at him on the bbc? Couldn’t call Carlson a victim

Biden makes number of gaffs and lies in less than a few minutes in two interviews.
    • Claimed those thinking to use the second amendment to defend from a tyrannical Government would need F-15s and Nukes yet then claims a couple fo hundred hippies in wookie onsies were an insurrection. Make up your mind "man".
    • Called Latinos, LatinX (an internet, cultish, term for whites identifying as latinos)
    • Said the second amendment (at the time of writing it) did not allow for, nor does it allow for, people to own canons or other weapons of war (thats a lie)
    • Misquoted, then incorrectly used (almost mockingly), the expression "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots".
    • Leaned forward into the microphone three separate times and whispered, creepily, to reporters.

    And my personal favorite:

Biden - "LatinX people won't get the vaccine because they're afraid of being deported".

So he thinks all Latinos are there illegally. The man has always been and still is a racist. However so called "fact checkers" label some things he said as misleading, or partly false. I've another name for partly false, MOSTLY TRUE. Some are so obvious they [the leftist media] can make no excuses for them. Here are some of his top ones which span his entire career:

    During 2020 election:
If you don't know who to vote for, you ain't black
    2006 fundraiser:
You cannot go into a 7-11 or Dunkin Donuts without having a slight indian accent
    1977 Senate hearing
I don't want my kids growing up in a racial jungle
    Less than a year ago:
Unlike the African American community, with notable exceptions, the Latino community is an incredibly diverse community with incredibly different attitudes about different things.
About his runnign mate in 2008 election.
I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy
2019, meeting about education on election trail:
Poor kids are just as bright and talented as white kids
