Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Cracking header by Kane. Excellent game so far for the neutral, though I doubt Chelsea or Spurs fans can enjoy it (and that's not a dig, by the way). You get too emotionally wrapped up in a game when your side is playing. I'll be the same tomorrow!

For once I think All didn't actually mean to stamp on a player

How is that not a free kick on Willian

    Definite free kick there.

Tough to imagine the BBC commentary speaking about that stamp on Luiz in the same way if it was Cahill.

He wasn't even looking at him. I know he has a rep at this stage and I'm sure some will be calling for a ban but that'd be really unfair on him.

Because it wasn't a stamp. It was nowhere near a stamp.

:D there was nothing at all in that.

There's no way Alli meant that if you look at it in real time.

Even in super slow mo there is nothing in it.

What would you define it as?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,388 ✭✭✭✭Jayop

Anyone with an ounce of sense knows it wasn't a stamp.

What would you define it as?

Luiz leg fell under Alli's natural running path while Alli had his eye on the ball the whole time. is how I would define it

Only a moron would call that a stamp.

I can see the thread progression now. If Chelsea lose, it'll be because Alli (the master of the no-look stamp) wasn't sent off and it's all part of a conspiracy to knock Chelsea off their perch.

It was a stamp in that he stood on Luiz' foot but you'd be hard pressed to find anyone (AIG aside) who could say with a straight face that it was intentional.

Will Chelsea see a yellow for all the little fouls?

So what do you define as the studs of one player landing flat on the leg of another? Didn't realise a stamp, by it's definition, had to be intentional. I hope I don't have to start giving English lessons along with football lessons on here.

And sum that up in one word...

A stamp is intentionally putting your foot down on someone with extra force. Stick your lessons.

Stamp implies intent. Alli put his foot down, and Luiz leg happened to be there. I'm sure it hurt, but there was nothing in it.

Stamp: "to bring down one's foot heavily on the ground or on something on the ground"

Perfectly sums up what happened. By trying to be pedantic, has Man Utd Boards revealed itself as being illiterate?

Spurs look so nice going forward

To "bring down" implies intent. Don't worry you can ask your English teacher on Monday

    A stamp?

    Scarlett.

    You can't FFS.

    He 'stood on him accidentally'.

When you say 'stamp', do you think it was intentional by Alli? Because that is what 'stamp' always implies. As you well know.

Dive, but that was stupid from Son there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,018 ✭✭✭Barr

    Clear pen

Spurs well on top. Chelsea conceding too many fouls and losing 50-50s. Second string team without Hazard and Costa on form.

    So, who takes peno? :)

Thats what happens when you put a striker in defence

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,259 ✭✭✭HalloweenJack

Didn't look like much there, my instinct was a Moses dive. Still not convinced by the replays.

    I'll take the goal, though.

Regardless of him diving which he did it was still the correct decision.

Lool. Debate over, by definition. Move on.

Penalty! Decision not to play Davies at lwb has backfired badly.

That was unreal, son the weakest piece of the puzzle so far and then hands them a peno.....
