Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Making the race for top 4 interesting, Liverpool could be out of it before they play again

If it was 60 minutes injury time, I don't think we'd score.

Palace done a smash and grab at Stamford Bridge too, they should have been 4 or 5 - 2 down at HT but somehow they held on.

Sam has kept them up when they looked screwed.

I was hoping theyed lose today and have something to play for on Wednesday but theure pretty much safe now.

It wasn't really a smash and grab

    They deserved the result

****ing delighted. Top 4 wide open now

They won't be out of it but utd huge favourites now for 4th. This squad is too small for CL football anyway. Look at utd today they were able to make 8 changes despite an injury crisis.

Both Man Utd and Man City play 2 times before Liverpool next play and just one win each could put Liverpool out of the top 4

And then Man Utd are at home to Swansea and City away to Boro, so unless anything unexpected happens both should win those games and Liverpool would be 5th by the time they play Watford on monday night

Yes so worst case scenario 1 point behind city. Tough but hardly over.

Not sure if anyone pointed this out, apparently Liverpool had just 1 shot on target. That's very poor if true.

United have been poor at home this season, every chance that game will be a draw.

Result gives Everton and Arsenal a slight bit of hope in the race for 5th

What is the tactic Klopp used at the end called, the one where the ball is played in an aerial manner forward toward the opposition goal?

It won't happen, but top 4 is still a possibility for Arsenal too. 3 games in hand over Liverpool and 9 points behind. Still have to play Man Utd at home too. If Utd have a chance than Arsenal certainly do too. Still think Liverpool should do it based on points on the board and the fixture list.

    Unless Liverpool bottle it

lol cant bottle it unless all teams where equal in games, when a team has games in hand that can tie or over take another team then that team has the upper hand ;):pac::p

Look at the Stats this season

Liverpool played hardly any games. If you drop out of the top 4 by seasons end then you bottled it

No 50m or 100m players in the squad though.

    Hamstrung we are.

That's the thing - if United do finish ahead of Liverpool, today is the day the bottling got underway.

Liverpool still 8/15 with the bookies though, United 7/4 and City 1/12. Doubt they will miss out, but makes you wonder if you could get good odds on City not making it - all home games, but United, a resurgent Leicester and likewise for Palace does give the possibility for 4pts or less out of a potential 9 there. Otherwise they have West Brom (H), Middlesbrough (A) and Watford (A).

No if Liverpool miss out on top 4 it's because we were absolutely terrible in January and February.

And United has a terrible start to the season, picking up just 7 points in 8 games if I recall between September and October - most teams go through rough spells. The fact is that as of 8 hours ago you basically just had to not mess up to finish there, especially with United and City playing each other. City win and you would be six clear of United with only 1 extra played, United win and you are 5 clear of City with only one extra played, a draw and you're 5 and 4 points clear of them respectively. You were probably not more than 1/5 odds on to achieve it before today.

I do still reckon Liverpool finish top four though, with the run in being all very winnable games. Some potential banana skins, but all very winnable.

Liverpool are favorites because they were better for the first 5 months of the season and United have been terrible at home all season and have a pretty tough run in and Liverpool gathered more points. Points, the most important part of it all is what they have/were better at this season and for large parts of the season their football has been too though with only one major comp to play in may have made their task a little easier.

The table should finish as it is with maybe Liverpool and City swapping places unless United beat two of City,Arsenal and Spurs away which doesn't seem all that likely tbh.
