No that's correct. I'd noticed the blue light wire loom hanging out of the car and was surprised as it was the only give away that it was a Garda car.
I took some photos and was instructed by a Garda to stop which I refused to do, like I said it's funny the things you remember and how you remember them.
The photos were taken on a film camera however the negatives would be long gone.

Just read your other post after posting the above.

Unfortunately around there there was/is a very transient crowd but you never know, I remember it😀 so someone else might.

Have you taken legal advise on any issues arising with this being posted in such detail on a public forum?

Sorry humberklog. I had to go out on an errand. Fair play t you for even noticing that it was a Garda vehicle. The first time I realised the police were involved was when I had exited my vehicle via the front passenger door and walked around the back of my car and saw the 2 Gardai through their rear window sitting in the front of the vehicle. Many people who were passing at the time may not have even realised that they were police officers either. They were only on the pavement for about 5 or 10 minutes before they were whisked away.
You're right about the transitory nature of the tenants in that area. Students doing courses in Griffith College just up the road. In fact, I knocked on some doors last summer and many of the accommodations were being rented on a short-term let basis to tourists! Still, some people walk the same route to work everyday for years. Many thanks again for your posts. You have made my day!

DOH! Sorry stesaurus. Silly me. Please disregard my last comment/blonde moment - I asked what FB Post meant - I don't use Facebook alot!
If you do go that route then post a link to your page up here. If a few of us share it on from that then who knows.

I'm not a FB fan either but sometimes it has its uses.
Hi stesaurus, this is an excellent idea and one I intend to follow up tomorrow. But before I do, I need to have a quick chat with my solicitors tomorrow to make sure that such a public media request (potentially with images) is not sub-judice, or could in any way be considered to be defamation or prejudicial. If it's okay to post on FB then it would be great if yourself and other contributors/readers were willing to share it. Thanks you so much.

There's a mechanic on Longwood Ave. called Steve. It's about 100m away from the scene but I remember talking to him about it at the time.
He's kinda the eyes and ears of the area and knows loads of the locals. It might be worth having a chat with him.

I'll call in to Longwood Ave. and try to have a chat with Steve this week. Hopefully he might point me in the right direction. Your information has been completely invaluable. Many thanks again humberklog. I owe you several bevies.

I hope you can keep us updated.

Hopefully, the facts that no training was completed by the driver, and that you were rammed from the rear will be seen as most pertinent. That they are now lying is disgusting and I hope you find a witness to prove them liars.

    Good luck

Hi humberklog, I called to the garage on Longwood Ave. but it's a one-mechanic operation and his name isn't Steve.

There is another small garage on Bloomfield Road owned by a man named Alan. This garage is closer to the scene of the RTA. Are you sure the guy you know is named Steve?

It was back then. Small lock up on the right about 20 metres off SCR?

Had my car in with him more often than on the road:).

Would you believe humberklog, that both of the garages on Longwood and Bloomfield fit that description! Not to worry, I'm going down there tomorrow and I'll visit both businesses. Thanks for your help mate. ;)

Google Maps Streetview gives Steve's name and phone number over the door of the lock-up if you want to try contacting him.

humberklog was correct about the mechanic's name and location. I visited both garage premises anyway and I talked to Steve and the owner of the BMW garage in the next street over. Unfortunately neither garage owner remembers the incident, or any clients/locals chatting about the incident. So no luck I'm afraid. I also chatted the the guy who runs the Curzon laundrette but the same story I'm afraid - he knew nothing about the accident. I just must be very unlucky I'm afraid. I mean, how often do you see a BMW go airbourne for 30 feet and land in a railing in the center of Dublin! I'd never forget it. Would you?

Maybe you would, but as it touched you as a personal experience then it's buried into your memory.
Whereas for witnesses it would eventually be forgotten especially if they suffered other events which could be traumatic (deaths for eg) and then at a certain point the memory would fade away.
If you could find a newspaper clipping or anything say from a news broadcast it would probably jog their memories.

Hi, apologies if this has been mentioned as I haven't read all the replies.
Did your witness not get a mention in the gardai discloser. The gardai have to disclose All information even if it aids the other side.
Would it be worth reporting this lack of complete discloser to the gardai ombudsmen
I know the ombudsmen have a year statue of liability to make a complaint. But you only received the discloser less than a year ago so within the complaints timeframe . Best of luck anyway
Maybe contact a radio station that may help with witnesses.
