My good lady is looking for something.

We are based in Swtizerland and it's a great place to cycle around. However, she is not really up for doing advanced mountain biking she would not mind some occasional off-roading.

She is looking for an ebike that can help her occasionally lug the kids around in a trailer and go on some on road tours (up to 50k) with me on my road bike (and there are plenty of steep hills which I can manage but she would need the assistance).

She really likes the look of the haibike - it's not cheap tho

    Any suggestions are greatly received.

E-bike and "cheap" haven't really converged yet, but there does seem to be a huge range of choice these days. I know you're in Switzerland but to give you an idea of what's available and out there look at Cycle Superstore and Greenaer (that Haibike does look nice!)

If you're near the French border, Decathlon are worth a look and have built up a fair range at interesting prices (including an electric folder)

    Some decent discounted bikes here

We have one of these, I like cycling it but might not be exactly appropriate for your needs

Cheap and good eBikes do not exist.
The Haibike is worth every cent, considering all the good components (Shimano Deore XT ect.) it is actually pretty cheap.
Two versions, Yamaha or Bosch engine. Yamaha is a bit cheaper, has more bottom torque and a little bit more efficient however in the end both are good. Make sure it has the 500 watt/hour battery as the range is depending on it.

I would strongly advise to read some reviews and make test-drives on a few different eBikes.

But if you live in Swiss you should consider a:
    STROMER: THE SWISS E-BIKE
Probably the best eBike around and got a few times close to bite the bullet (aka Wallet) and purchase one :pac:

Based in Basel myself and there is a huge uptake in ebikes alright, the price makes no sense for me yet though with my small kms.

That Haibike is a beauty though
