Writing a brief for architect

    Hi folks,

Parents have engaged with an architect to renovate an old building.

They have to provide a brief for him. I have written briefs in the past but not for architectural work.

Any advice would be great on how to get the most out of a brief, how to put one together and make it easy for the architect to understand.

If there are any recommended links to advice or templates this would be much appreciated.

    Thanks again

They don't have to write a brief. The arch can work with your folks to write the brief and agree it with your parents. I typically ask clients to collect photos/materials/clippings (or PowerPoint) of the style they want - then tease out a basic list of their priorities, followed by budget (and contingency and separate pot for pro fees)
