Garden flies

Hi all Has anyone any tips for removing fruit flies/ small flies from garden? I have already removed all decomposing vegetation etc. Any birds that could be attracted?

It depends on the flies. Are you sure they are fruit flies? There are many St Mark's Flies around at present. Many flies are beneficial to the garden.
