Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Silly from Rashford as he did not need to dive, he was going to be taken out anyway

Situations like this demand video referee decisions. Shocking dive.

In real time it looked a peno, Fabianski flew in even if he pulled his arms back. Rashford anticipated the contact and went down early.

In fairness if he had of stayed up I reckon he would have been caught anyways but when he dived his legs moved out of the way of the contact *facepalm*

Happy we scored but not happy with Rasher's, hope its a once off don't want this creeping into his game

Excellent play from Rashers to win the penalty.

Rashford just doing what most players would have in his position. It's still cheating though

We need a team of bastards, not nice guys. Look at Augero diving against Fellaini. Rashford is paid to win games for Man United. Hes done his job there.

    Never a penalty.
    Joke of a decision.
    Referee fell for it.
    Could relegate the Swans.

Not one mention of a dive on BT, maybe because it's England's young saviour who has cheated?

Lots of players do it but the guys on Sky/BT really only seem to latch onto it when it is a forigen player who does it.

It's a shame they aren't breaking the cycle of taking contact/diving etc though. It would be so refreshing to see players doing it right rather than all cheating when it suits. The game is riddled with it.

Agree 100%. Just look at some of the best strikers in the world - Aguero, Costa, Suarez etc. All bastards but they're brilliant bastards

Really poor from the referee. He's got four players in front of him, can't see it and is guessing.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,631 ✭✭✭Dirty Dingus McGee

I don't really have a problem with diving as it's no worse than tripping a player, pulling a jersey, body checking someone and these happen all the time and people accept it's part of the game however the hypocrisy of the british media around it is really sickening as there is no hope Rashford will be destroyed for what he did yet we all know what the reaction would be if johnny foreigner did it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,711 ✭✭✭keano_afc

The reluctance of the BT pundits to call it a dive is embarrassing. Just imagine he's a foreigner, lads.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,119 ✭✭✭✭Mantis Toboggan

    Definite contact there.

We need video panels to retrospectively warn, and ultimately start banning players for this sort of thing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,906 ✭✭✭✭PhlegmyMoses

It's the nature of the game. Britton cynically pulled Rashford down to stop him breaking away earlier, Fernandez went down holding his head for 2 minutes after a tackle from Rashford when no contact was made with his head. To expect him to not try to win penalties in those 50/50 situations is naive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,349 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

Michael Owen trying to bend reality there. He's backed into saying it's a dive but somehow it's not Rashford's fault for diving.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,136 ✭✭✭✭Rayne Wooney

The fans reaction behind the goal should have been a dead giveaway for the ref :pac:

What dives were there in the City game, I cannot recall any?

    Do you mean Aguero?

Anyway, why is it funny to you?

Its benefiting the team I support there fore I'm OK with it.

I wouldn't have thought it was that hard to understand tbh.

I wonder if video replay will be introduced,
down the line be interesting to see an NFL red flag challenge style for managers to use

    And?

The definition of a foul has nothing to do with contact. He's already dived and on his way down, reaches out with his right leg to find the keeper. Its as clear a dive as you will ever see.

Agreed. It's a free-out for Swansea after Rashford kicked Fabianski.

It is no different from bringing a man down who is breaking away. One stops a chance at goal, the other creates one. Calling for retroactive bans for one and not the other is hypocritical and illogical.

Yup, defenders consistently foul, bully and drag down opponents and its praised as clever defending or professional. Sometimes with a bit of a chuckle too. Attackers have to get completely cleaned out in the penalty box to get anything. The defence and goalie made a balls of it, Rashford took advantage.
