So the age old question for which is better.
Trinity is generally said to be better but UCD has had a significant upgrade on its buildings recently and the modern look definitely has an appeal.
Since the leaving cert is so soon which would people prefer to go to and why?

Personally I think TCD's location and schols are the bait that makes me want to go over UCD. I think otherwise they're equal in my eyes.

When I had to decide, the prime factor was the location. A 20min walk vs. a 90min bus...

    Depends on your course too.

That's true but I thought people would say why they view one as better more on facilities or whatever.
Tcd and UCD are pretty similar in their science departments or so I've heard.

UCD science departments + science course are a good deal better than Trinity. Trinity is good for the arts, Law, Psychology and those. UCD is good for Science and Healthcare

What makes you say UCD's are a good deal better?
I had always read they were about the same with Trinity's theoretical physics class being better since literally everyone in their math department studies tp.
The rankings if anything would suggest trinity is better.

I've decided to go for Science in UCD over TCD for the following reasons:
    1. Newer, more modern facilities
    2. More options to specialise in for Chemistry-centred students (like myself)
    3. Exams are spread over Christmas/Summer unlike Trinity which has all theirs in the summer (I can imagine that being extremely stressful for me)
    4. You can do elective modules outside your course (which is good as I want to keep up Irish)

What are people's preferences or opinions on the engineering courses in both these universities??

    3) That will change very soon. 2018-2019 will be the first academic year with Christmas and Summer exams. (for Trinity)

    4) Extra-curricular modules are also being rolled out (especially for science students) which will tie in with the course (meaning you get credits from these extra-curricular modules). I believe this will also start in 2018-2019. (for Trinity)

DublinArnie, where did you hear that? Genuinely curious as one of the drawbacks for me picking TCD was not being able to take any language modules. There may be hope yet
