Rockathon 2017 (Fairyhouse)?

Does anyone know if Rockathon is going ahead this year? There has been no mention of any confirmed acts or dates on their website or Facebook account. The only info available from both sources pertains to last year's event.

Haven't seen or heard anything yet. It's always good craic but the organisation and promotion of it is abysmal.

That's for sure. It was always a good day out with some world class tribute acts. However, the lack of attendance was always noticeable. At first I chalked it up to the fact that it was being run on the same weekend as Electric Picnic. They seemingly attempted to rectify this last year by running it in mid August as opposed to early September, yet the attendance was still glaringly light. My guess is that they've pulled the plug on it. If they were going to run it in August (or even September) they would have had the line up announced, confirmed and tickets on sale by now. It's a pity if that is the case, but like you said, the promotion in previous years was atrocious. Also, they seemed unsure of the direction in which to take it. It started out as a tribute festival, then they decided to introduce up and coming bands into the mix. Perhaps they were also a little too ambitious. Fairyhouse is a big venue to fill, even with the right promotion behind you it's no easy feat. Perhaps a smaller venue and a better promotional strategy might have worked out better in the long run? Who knows.

They've just posted to their Facebook page. Looks like it's on but no mention of dates or bands yet.

I messaged them about 2 months ago asking what the story was and got no answer. Guess they haven't anything confirmed yet, but glad something is going ahead! Missed it last year.
