    Asking for someone else:
Does anyone know where is best insurance company to get insured with a conviction. It was for dangerous driving I think.

He is 25 but any quotes he is getting is at least 3000/4000 +. The conviction happened about 5/6 years ago and he got penalty points but they have since came off.

Anyone here have convictions and if so who are you insured with.

    Thanks

Tell him to start saving. Empirical evidence that he's a risk = high premium.

Tell him buy a bicycle. Not a hope of him getting anything remotely like an affordable premium offer.. If he was convicted 5/6 yrs ago, he was likely a boy racer acting the mick if he got done for dangerous driving.

How long do these convictions stick? Will he still have trouble getting insurance in 20 years time because of this?

Fortunately a law was passed in 2016 that will make that conviction spent after 7years and you are supposed to still disclose it but the law hides it away for you. I am currently looking for insurance. 30years old male with no insurancel conviction and 5points. Difficult times

The spent convictions rule only applies to certain types of convictions.

IIRC an insurer can still decline to quote if the conviction was for things like fraud or sexual assault, regardless of how long ago the offences were.

The citizens information service has full details available.
