With Liverpool "doing a PSG" and not signing Keita until next summer I wonder does that mean they actually WILL try and get Lemar as the big signing this summer?

There seemed to be a fair bit of weight to the Lemar stories, and they're very different players, so I'd imagine they're totally separate from each other.

This does make me think that Can will end up seeing out his contract this year and leaving next summer, with Keita replacing him.

Bit of an odd deal for Liverpool, will there be another twist and they'll sign him on loan now?

It's the other way around. It's basically Liverpool signing him now and loaning him back to RBL.

This works for both clubs, Red Bull get Kieta for another year and don't lose him to Bayern in 2017. Liverpool get their man and don't have to fight off other teams next summer.

Obviously different players but I meant the FFP perspective.

Siem de Jong has left Newcastle for Ajax. Good player. Dunno why Newcastle thought him inferior to Shelvey.

Ah fair. I don't think FFP will affect Liverpool considering we've spent next to no money in each of Klopp's transfer windows so far, should have a decent amount saved up.

Obvious ploy when you think about it - Liverpool should have done the same with Keita for different reasons.

:) Liverpool obviously reading my wise words

Chelsea are actually paying 35 million for Oxlade-Chamberlain?! :pac:

Probably explains some of his disinterest yesterday. Madness for Wenger to play him ahead of Kolasinac.

He'd been there two years and made no impact?

Makes sense, he won't be in Chelsea's first 11 but they needed depth and he fits the he's decent cover standard. Conte will improve his tactical awareness no end.

Arsenal are getting a fantastic deal for one of the most average players finally some good news for them

I saw a bad Photoshop done where they used Salah's unveiling as a base.

Word also that Costa to Atletico done with loan to Everton until January.

35m for Ox is honestly the biggest waste of money in football this side of 30m for Sissoko.

I reckon he'll be first choice rwb, Moses to drop out.

People only know extremes on this forum, players are either fantastic or terrible. Ox is pretty good, has a lot of England caps for someone his age, still room for improvement there imo but plenty of raw ability to work with.

Highly doubt it, not for a few months anyway. That position is pretty specialist in Conte's system and takes a good while to master. Moses has been excellent most of the time.

A year is a long time for both a club and a player. Keita may possibly be coming into a club playing Europa next season if LIverpool miss out.
And once you miss CL one season, it has a knock effect and you may miss out another season or two as it has happened with Pool over last decade. Now that they are back they need to build on that and push on.

I understand it would be great to know he will be there next season but surely there is a disappointment with the significant term of the deal.
Sometimes short term focus is even more important than long term.

You won't find many 24 year olds with 6 solid seasons of PL and International football.

A good addition to the Chelsea squad.

I'll say Moses will keep his place to begin with to be fair. Was a big player in that team last season .

Most Liverpool fans thought RBL wouldn't sell him this summer and we'd miss out on him next year. At least this way Klopp gets the player he wants.

Chamberlain like Drinkwater is just a homegrown squad option. Not gunna be in the first XI, a fairly respectable replacement when he is needed. Biggest asset is his nationality and ticking that HG box for the quota.

Im puzzled as to why Ox is leaving for Chelsea. I get it hes leaving the sinking ship that is Arsenal, but he says hes leaving to play more in CM, yet he wont play more in that position for Chelsea. He surely would be playing more or less the same role as he does now.

Interesting that he turned down a £180,000 a week deal at Arsenal apparently. So I'm assuming Chelsea are at least matching that offer, mad money for him anyway. I do see him dislodging Victor Moses at rwb, I think he's a far better player than Moses and think Conte will bring the best out of the Ox, something which Wenger clearly failed to do.

Yes, but a player he would want this season preferabally . As I said a season is a long time in a club, a player and indeed a manager like Klopp''s career.

Chelsea won't be giving him anything close to £180k a week.

Wouldn't suprise me if he is taking much less pay. Chelsea gives him a chance of winning titles unlike Arsenal, he may not want to end up like Walcott. He'll still only be a squad player at Chelsea but at least one with medals.

By all accounts Kieta was his number 1 midfield target. He's now guaranteed him.

Amusing to see you trying to talk down this deal. Hell, depending on Leipzig's fortunes Liverpool could have the option to trigger some clause we don't know about to bring him across in January. Okay he'd be Cup tied but he'd be a great rotation option!

Exactly, Liverpool could finish outside of the Champions League places, Klopp could leave or get sacked, a scandel could rock Liverpool and they could be banned from CL or have a transfer embargo. Keita could get injured seriously.

I wonder can Liverpool or Keita or even RBL pull out of the deal in 6 or 8 months time?

All unlikely but not out of the question.

But he's an attacking midfielder or at least he's supposed to be.

Seems like a complete waste both for Chelsea and for himself if he's going to be playing in a position he's not really suited for.
