Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

PHEV are neither here nor there imho. If you really need a car with a range much higher than 200km per day (70k km per year), wait until affordable EVs can do that. It will be soon. For most people the current range of EVs like the Ioniq EV is more than enough.

But I guess if you are either buying a diesel or a petrol PHEV, by all means buy the PHEV :D

I'm not sure why they went for a dual clutch transmission in these, it sounds unnecessarily complicated compared to the relatively simple planetary gearset in Toyota/Lexus hybrids, and going by that review doesn't sound like it works any better.

As a single car owner and someone with a short commute, a PHEV works pretty well for me. I'm averaging 3.67 l/100km and 5.21 kWh/100km with my first generation Prius - it's costing me about half as much to run as my previous diesel. About 30-40% of my driving is in EV mode, and these new PHEVs have over twice the range of mine.

I'll probably get an EV once the range is over 300km.
