As with a lot of things on the internet, context is everything. Calling your car insurance sh1t is fine, calling another poster a complete and utter sh1t isn't and will earn you a card or a ban. Certain forums don't permit swearing at all, the religious forums being the the most obvious ones. That said, there are some forums that specifically ban swearing, not sure about specifics, but presumably just because they feel people don't need to swear to make their point. The TV forum is one that springs to mind. I'd say your best bet if you're posting in a forum you haven't posted in previously is to check the charter first, as it's a stupidly avoidable thing to pick up a card for.

It seems the use of misspellings to avoid the filters is acceptable ..... case in point ...... fcuk is widely used on the TV forum as well as others.
Foul language and cursing is not allowed on this forum. Anyone swearing and using foul language will be infracted and banned for repeat offences. Using fonts to get around the swear filter will also result in action being taken by a mod.

    An example

and note that post is by a moderator (of a different forum).

There is no consistency even within forums and definitely not across Boards.

It would be helpful to all if ignored rules were deleted, or else strictly applied everywhere.
It would help us all to know where we stand.
