I'm probably missing something but why come out right before the munch? Now the mob have a target, but it doesn't help us at the moment and just hastens your demise?

I'm Kent Brockman and you're watching the Channel 6 10am news.
Springfield has been rocked by violence over the last few hours, resulting in two dead bodies.
Earlier today I did a breaking news bulletin about the death of Andy125.
While attention was focused on Andy, another Springfield resident was beaten to a pulp, twisted into a snake-like shape and covered in gold specs.
On arrival at Springfield hospital he was declared to be a very dead avork, an innocent villager.
At the risk of editorializing, whoever did this is guilty, and must be dealt with in a harsh and brutal fashion.
Kent is calling on the citizens of Springfield to come together and join forces to lynch a resident.
