I watched the short last night, and it has given me some hype for the game. I wasn't going to get this Day 1, but I think I might now. Sounds like it could be just different enough to pique my interest again.

Trophies leaked as well, seems a handy enough platinum.

Also confirms you can buy cars for your garage.

And looks like you can buy an Impreza/evo

They look like they are the same cars used in the Watch_Dogs games.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to shooting enemies in the arse when the game is released in a weeks time.

Hopefully they make up for the map-maker blunders the past few years. After seeing how it helped GTA I think they're really going to make it good from what I've seen.

Got the book today, 3 weeks delay. Seeing a nice back story so far. The live action stuff is class as well.

How is the online co-op mode working?

If you and a mate both do a few missions does it count in both your games or only the host?

I'm totally oblivious to this and I've tried to avoid the most recent trailers/tesers for the game. :o

Only the host gets the completion AFAIK, you can't do story missions co-op so it's mainly for clearing outposts and other side activities.

Edit: Turns out the campaign missions can actually be played Coop as well (which is very cool and unexpected!). Only host keeps the progress though:
As soon as you complete Far Cry 5's tutorial, you can play the open-world shooter co-op online with a friend, Ubisoft has said.

You can play through the entire campaign in co-op. Your Friend for Hire appears as a custom player character and can fight alongside you throughout the game, dropping in and out with full voice-chat support.

You can share ammo and health packs, and can even turn on friendly fire if you fancy living dangerously.

It's worth noting, however, that only the host can accept missions, recruit and command Guns for Hire and keep the progress made in the world. Your friend keeps all their progression as a player, and retains any cash, guns, perks or loot they earn (except items unlocked by missions).

    Makes sense actually.

    Cheers. :)

I'm not getting this until I finish 4. Don't think I ever used that guns for hire token come to think of it.

I found FC4 to be a slog to get through, don't think I even bothered to finish it. The setting and the main villain were just utterly boring coming straight after 3. In my mind, I just pretend that 2,4 and Primal never existed :D

FC5 looks to be superior in every way.

I must be one of a very select few who enjoyed 2 and primal. Not amazing games by any stretch of the imagination, but I enjoyed none the less.

2 had the groundwork for a great game but it was ruined by the voice acting, the malaria mechanic (seriously how did that pass play testing in the state it was in?!) and respawning enemies/outposts.

On a very postive note for myself anyway, I have just realised that I have a week off work coming up (that I somehow forgot booking) - starting on the 27th no less!! I wonder what I will play?? :D:D

The gold editions in Smyths have sold out. Standard edition can still be preordered for 50 if you collect from a store.

One of the guys I work with only ordered his the other day.

He was going to wait and see if he could pick one up on release day but after checking a few previews he pulled the trigger and pre-ordered with Symths. :o

Seriously good deal delighted I got it before it sold out

Well hopefully the game turns out to be good anyway :)

I see there is a new documentary on Netflix called Wild wild country. A documentary about a cult that takes over a sleepy US town. Might be worth watching if you're looking forward to far cry. Getting great reviews as well.

Glad I decided not to buy into the hype after hearing how Ubisoft have come out with conflicting reports about if their Microtransactions will or won't affect gameplay.

Couple of articles saying they're Time Unlocks, and that everything is cosmetic only. Will be interesting to see, Far Cry is the type of game that can be ruined with MT's, but if it is genuinely only time saving, it won't bother me.

They won't affect gameplay in the slightest - they are simply packs for the lazy (so you can buy crafting materials etc if you can't be arsed to just get them yourself by playing the game). In terms of microtransactions, these are nothing at all to be getting worked up about - fools and their money are soon parted, everyone else can just ignore them and play the game as intended.

Heard this argument before with regard to Shadow of Mordor.
If you've designed your game in such a way that I will want to "save time" and have then monetised a way for do so, you've done your game a disservice.
Far Cry 3 was a wonderful game and did not require this and was no more bloated than it wanted to be.

Genuinely surprised at the sheer mania to pre-order this over the last few pages.

You shouldn't want to save time if you are genuinely interested in playing the game as intended, but we live in a time now where people want instant gratification and are willing to pay for it - Ubi are simply throwing a carrot and stick to these types.

There is nothing to gain from buying these packs - maybe you will get that ammo pouch or holster quicker than someone taking their time with it and hunting for the materials - but who is losing out in that scenario, the person taking their time to enjoy the game and work towards the upgrades they want, or the guy spending real cash to skip a few hours of the game?

I'm expecting the micro transactions to be pretty much the same as the recent Assassin's Creed , you know they are there but not really in your face

Never once felt the game to be too grindy or wished for a short cut.

Pre-ordering in general makes almost no sense these days. When was the last time a game sold out? And the pre-order bonuses are usually ****e anyway.

In this example, the gold edition did sell out in Smyths and got it cheaper than the standard edition cost on most shops. Yupp the preorder is a gamble but times like this can be worth the risk.

Preordered the Gold edition. Still have no real interest in the single player, I'll mostly be making maps, but I'll give it a go at some stage.

    Ability to pre load.

Ya, I only pre-ordered the Gold Edition as its cheap enough, IMO, to warrant it.

My Smyths Gold edition preorder is on it's way to me, anyone know what courier uses tracking numbers starting with PRIE or who do Smyths normally use? Link I got in my email doesn't work.
