70% of credit card spending by cardholder is known to Google

    It would appear that Google is doing deals with websites that take payment card details in 'eCommerce' situations to get the credit card holder details, presumably in return for benefits (eg this might be free traffic via Google or discounts or whatever). This article talks about the US.

    Google in Europe is the responsibility of dataprivacy.ie for data protection. It seems to me that the collection of payment card details from third party websites by Google is in gross breach of EU data protection laws.

    And of course when shopping on the internet, many sites are hosted in the US even though they are operated by EU based service providers or retailers. This includes many airlines who use Navitaire, and one can think of at least one airline based in Ireland that uses this US service provider. The latter collects not only card details, billing address, date of birth, ID or passport number and expiry date. One wonders if this is being sold to Google (for traffic favours). And if so is Google (or the EU based airline) selling it on to the NSA (via Navitaire)? The NSA has been involved in the murder and mayhem that has been inflicted on the Middle East for decades (including the million or so dead in Iraq). Far more evil, in my view, than the evil people involved in the incident the other night in Manchester, or previously in Paris, Nice, Brussels Airport etc.
