How long are thhe babies sleepin during the day?

Mine is a month old today and over past few days he has barely been sleeping by day. Thought before it was the coldness in the cot but rectified the issue with the furry blanket so its obv not. He does sleep more at night tho.

Im bf him but do use a bottle occasionally

Is he feeding more often as well? The first leap is around 4 weeks and babies become more clingy and want to feed more often.

My first baby never slept during the day for the first 6 months, well she might nod off for 20 mins in the bouncer or swing but rarely was it a few hours. This little man is the opposite, needs his sleep. He didn't sleep for 7 hours yesterday evening but slept 7 hours last night. How often is your baby feeding?

Ya he would be feeding more often too. That could be it so how long do these leaps last

The leap length depends on the baby. If you want more info download the Wonder Weeks app. My little fella doesn’t sleep at all some days. I’d be of the opinion that if he is happy when awake and not cranky then he’s getting enough sleep.

You should talk to a lacation consultant to see if there is any issue with her latch that is causing her to take in air when feeding.

We had a lactation consultant out and she said her latch is perfect, no clicking or anything. She said that when they cry they can swallow a lot of air, which leads to more crying, which leads to more swallowing of air... So far today she's been much better, has barely cried at all, but the real test will be night time because that's usually when she's upset. She's been farting like mad today though so maybe the wind is moving through now that she's not constipated any more.

Most nights it's somewhere between 3-5 hours but he was wrecked last night. I was awake waiting for him to wake. He was non stop sleeping the other day and seemingly during a growth spurt they can sleep a lot.

It's just hard sometimes if they don't have a sleep during the day it can be harder to get some jobs done.
This little man was in real pain yesterday evening, he did a dirty nappy during the night and seems much better today.
Toots it'd be great if she's getting rid of that wind, it might give her a break and ye too, the crying is so hard on everyone.

I'm so sick of being in this house!

I bf my fella and find he has hardly any wind at all. Im not exclusively bf coz my hubby gives bottle when i need a break. Way more wind and spew from bottle.
Maybe it depends on every baby tho with bf. He udually lets off a big burp at the end and lets off a bit of wind
Maybe try sitting her up after u think shes finished feedin to get her to burp

Aww, the poor little pet. It’s good that you have the latch sorted. Hopefully she’ll grow out of the crying as the weeks go on. My little fella is a terror with the farting. Usually wakes up at 4/5am in pain because he can’t seem to get it out. Starting a baby massage class this week so hopefully I’ll learn something to help.

We're similar. Neither of my boys were ever particularly windy, both BF with the occasional bottle. Small burp after feeding but that's about it.

I actually never thought of vaccinations! I suppose we go to the same one all the time. Did you hear of Virgo boutique in Newcastle west? I saw some lovely dresses online there. Late start this morning when I thought we'd be out the door already, it's typical!

Oh really, I better not go there, they don't have the dress I want in stock so I might have to buy it from the UK!
Why is it the weirdest strangers always ask questions about your baby or try to touch them!!

I went there in person and the dresses all look gorgeous online but the quality wasn’t great! The dresses felt cheap! But if cheap and cheerful is what you are after it’s perfect

What kind of outfit are you putting on your little boy for christening? Ive been looking online and it seems all these romper suits for boys are in. Is that what they wear under the robe? My aunt is giving me the use of the robe that was used in the family. My mother thought it would just be a white baby grow they would wear underneath it

We just put tights and a vest under the christening gown for our girls christening, after photos I just changed her into an outfit, we used the christening gown in my husbands family for our girl, we might use the one from my family this time or just stick with my husbands one depending on what fits at the time. Our little girl was 12 weeks being christened but I reckon it could be June for this little man.

Yeah just a babygro under for the gown for a little boy. (My brother kept calling it a dress and it really annoyed me for some reason!)

My mother has been staying and doing the night feeds, once or twice a week, since my shoulder started giving trouble. I think she has cracked the whole sleeping through the night thing. Little woman is getting a 5oz bottle between 9pm and 11pm, having a bath and down for bed about 11:30. She starts rustling a bit in the cot about 4am but dummy is popped back in until she falls back asleep. Could take half hour or so but eventually she'll nod off until 6:30 or 7am.
I'm probably jinxing it all now but hopefully it continues!
Hope everything is going well for ye.

    How's the shoulder doing now?

I popped my "breastfeeding in public" cherry last night, we went out for dinner and managed to feed the baba at the table without flashing my boobs at the whole restaurant, so quite pleased with that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,832 ✭✭✭heldel00

Well done Toots. I can imagine the first time must be daunting and then after that it gets easier.
Shoulder is still the same. No power in it. Have serious cabin fever but am going to get hair cut tomorrow and can't wait! Christening is weekend after next. Bit early but godfather is in America so we had to work round his schedule.

Well done toots. I haven’t yet fed in public, silly I know but trying to avoid it as long as possible!

Have you given your little one bottles yet? We have been on and off the last few weeks but with expressed milk. She can be hit and miss some days she will take it other days she won’t :(

We gave bottles from day 1. A was slow to feed early on so he had virtually every non-boob form of feeding in the first few days in hospital (NG tube in NICU, syringe, cup and bottles in addition to free boob access) so he's surprisingly comfortable with chopping and changing. I have an oversupply which I pump off every day and he takes that EBM happily in a bottle, he also takes a small bit of Aptamil if needed.

See when I pump it totally messes up my supply. I pump then both breast are empty and then they fill up at the same time but DD is only emptying one breast at a time per feed so one breast is rock solid and sore until next feed

It is esp late night early morning they are both full and I am waiting for DD to wake to relieve me. I know I could hand express but doesn’t that make it worse? Producing more than she needs!

I had this on my second, hoping to use Haakaa breastpump to take oversupply during the night on my third, on the breast that is not being fed from.....I hear it's good....
