Can anyone tell me the names of companies that auction houses in Ireland, also is their better value to be had by buying a house at auction?

Many estate agents are also auctioneers. Very few properties are auctioned.

Auctions tend to be used for:
* Unique / landmark properties, where attaching a value to them is difficult.
* Very expensive houses - €1m+.
* Houses that have serious problems, e.g. the owner has difficulty proving they are the owner.
* Houses that have been repossessed by banks.

The main places to look when buying are www.daft.ie and www.myhome.ie There is a good mix of large, small and franchise estate agents.
