Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi, I'm thinking of an upgrade. Need advice, tips.
    Xeons, Dual GPU, SSD, 64 RAM etc.

    Any good stores in Ireland for this? Which Xeon is the best? (simulations, rendering)

    custompc.ie - no, unfortunately, I have some bad experience with them (customer service)
    elare.ie - only pre-builds, DELL, very expensive.

    1. What is your budget? [~4000]
    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? [3D Modelling/Rendering - 3DsMax, Vray, Zbrush, Photoshop, CS:GO]
    5. Do you need a monitor? [No - I have 2 monitors]
    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? [No]
    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? [No]
    9. When are you purchasing? [~1 month]

    You would typically go to a preferred supplier and put it through your business or research grant/school. Generally the order would be done online.

    If you're buying out of pocket for the sake of a hobby you'd typically build yourself. Professional grade kit is usually a few % faster but an order of magnitude more expensive, for a myriad of reasons but the main one being profit. As for which Xeon is best - really it's not my area of expertise but depending on the application I would have thought ideally that sort of stuff would be off loaded to the GPU.
