Hi,

Can you help me please, because it's driving me mad.

This is a recent issue as I've had several smartphones previously and was always able to receive mail.

This is the problem.

• I can receive mail but am unable to send mail using my eircom account.
• The issue is the same whether I’m connected to Wi-Fi, 3G or 4G.
• I can send and receive mail through web mail on my PC.
• I can send mail from my phone using Gmail.
[*]

Current outgoing mail settings

mail1.eircom.net

SSL         On

Port       25

When I try to verify the SMPT server I get the error message “mail1eircom.net is not responding”

Many thanks
Tom.

Should SSL not be on port 465?

Outgoing (SMTP) Port should be 465 with SSL on, or Port 587 with SSL Off.
I think Eir have a problem with an unverified certificate, I had months of email problems with mail. It works better using webmail.

Hi Kildafornia,

Thanks for getting in touch and I'm sorry to hear this.

Can you please advise of your handset make and model and I can then query this with our technical support team for you?

Thanks,
Anna

Hi Anna,

It's a Apple 6s. I previously had a 5s and had no issues. My wife also has a 6s and is experiencing the exact same problem.

Thanks,
Tom.

I would follow the below instructions as it seems you may have SSL authentication ‘on’ for the STMP server settings, this will hopefully solve the problem:

iPhone / iPad – find Settings Icon
Click  -   on Settings
Click  -   on Mail, Contacts and Calendars
Under Accounts Select your Email Account
Click  -   on your Account again
Scroll to the bottom of the account screen and click  -   on Advanced
Scroll to the bottom and under Incoming Settings.
On the Outgoing Mail Server Tap/Click  -   on the SMTP server
Click  -   on the Primary Server
Under Outgoing Mail Server Use SSL turn that off and Authentication 'None'
Click  -   Account in the upper left-hand corner
Click  -   Done again

Please let me know if this works.

Thanks,

Hi Anna,

No luck, I already have SSL turned off in the outgoing mail settings.

Still getting an SMPT error "mail1.eircom.net is not responding"

Many thanks
