Deferring

I emailed my college asking them if I could defer the second year of my course. There are numerous reasons for me wanting to do this. However the college told me that "Students are only permitted to go “off books” in exceptional circumstances such as prolonged illness, absence from the country, or grave, ad misericordiam reasons". I wasn't sure if my reasons would satisfy any of the college's criteria for deferring, but one thing I plan to do in my gap year is audition for a talent show, which would require me going abroad.

I would have to spend several months in England for this, if I were to do well on the show. Even though there is a possibility I mightn't get very far on the show and would return home, would this still be a good enough reason in the college's eyes?
