Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Champions League Final | Juventus V Real Madrid KO 19:45

Seeing as I couldn't find a thread I've decided to start one.

Can't wait for this game, the 2 best teams in Europe with so much at stake for both teams.

If Juve win they can cement themselves as a truly great team as 6 league title in a row topped off by a champions league win would be an incredible achievement.

For Real winning 3 champions league titles in 4 years and the first team to win 2 in a row since the competition format was changed would mark them out as a really special side and up there with some of the best all time.

    Looking forward to this.

I think Madrid may just edge it.

BTW love the use of the Interstellar soundtrack in the RTE ad for this.

Really tight game, a real 50/50.

Promised so much, I'm kinda worrying it will struggle to deliver on the hype.

I just hope it's entertaining and the best team wins.

Paddy power have Ronaldo and Higuian to both score in 90mins is now 7/1 going to be put up to 8/1 soon enough.
    Surely worth a 10er

    WORTH 100

Yeah its 20e max, about to throw it on myself.
Hope its a brillant game. Best attack vs the beat defence

Head says Madrid, heart says Juve.

Would love to see Juve win it for Buffon. He seems a lovely fella and one of the greatest keepers of all time.

Not too fond of the likes of Ronaldo and Ramos etc.
So I hope Juve win it.

The first goal is massive tonight. If Juve get it then no better side to defend it and score again on the break.
But if Madrid take the lead then I could see them winning it comfortably.
    Juve need to score first.

    As above

Wud love Buffon to win it but i think Real will win 2-0

I hope Juve win but I'm expecting a fairly cagey game if that is to happen.

Haven't been looking forward to a cl final more than this one in a long time. Part of me wants to see Buffon win his first and only cl medal the other wants to see Zidane and Ronaldo succeed even more. Should be a cracker going with 1-1 in 90 mins.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,284 ✭✭✭AidoEirE

Heart says juve, head wants madrid.
CL winner vs EL winner and the manU in me wants mourniho to face madrid and destroy em😜

Heart says Juve as I'd love to see Buffon,Barzagli,Bonucci ,Marchisio,Chiellini and Higuain win a champions league medal.

However my head says Real they have the most deadly combination you can have in sport which is that they are really good and they are also have been really lucky/oppurtunistic over and over again.I just feel Real will find a way to win without necessarily being the best team tonight.

Always have had soft spot for Juventus so hoping they deliver tonight.

I fancy Madrid on Penos though.

    Very tough to predict

Hoping for a Juve clinic. Higuain to be the hero and for once not bottle it in a final.

Juve to win it in the 2 - 1 with Buffon saving a Ronnie pen in the 94th minute.

    Ahhh if Carlsberg did finals.....

(loved the job they did on the one in 2005 mind)

I think Juventus will do a job on Real .
They have the superior defence and wont give much away ,Real are suspect down the middle and wont keep a clean sheet.
When a good defence comes up against a good attack ,the good defence nearly always comes out on top .

My only reservation would be if nerves get the better of Juventus as they have a history of not showing up in finals.

3 at the back for Juve tonight. Not sure if that is the best move with 2 in centre midfield.
Isco starting for Real too. Right decision that, no time for sentiment in Cardiff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,349 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

James not even on the bench. Seems to be the slightly-worse ready made replacement for Sanchez at Arsenal now.

We might finally see Casemiro get the sending off hes deserved since about November.

Hoping for a Juventus win but Real defending the title is written in the stars I think sadly.

I was surprised when I saw the back three on the team sheet.Think they could be taking a bit of a risk in midfield. Pjanic is very lightweight as the only support for Khedira in midfield particularly when Real are playing 4 central midfield players in their team.

    Boring 0-0 draw.

Stuck a fiver on over .5 anyway.

It would be a shame to see Real be the first side to retain as i'd like that feat to be reserved for a special team. So, expect Real to win.

They seem to be missing Fergie from the line up.

    He's in the stands.

Just think, there are dozens - probably hundreds - of millionaires in the stadium and not one of them is stepping forward to pay them to stop this.

I'm fairly skint but I'd take out a loan to pay them to stop it.

Without going the through touts.. How easy would it be to get tickets for this?

Not now obviously but say a couple of months ago.

Some load of ****e that the biggest club game in the world is being delayed due to some tedious pre game show.If people wanted to go to a pop concert they would have decided to go to one and not the champions league final.

oh well, I'd disagree on both points but sure that's the nature of it all i guess.

Juventus have been trying to win the treble of league , cup and champions league for 109 years or so apparently. The first 50 years or so would have been a fairly difficult task.......
