I'd stick to the M3 / N3 and scoot across via Lavey.

If you are convinced on going a different route then there's no real difference between Ardee / Blaney. If I've to go to Leterkenny I try stay on the M1 as long as possible and make the time up there, the other roads are toxic.

But you'll do Blanch - Virginia in 30 / 40 mins so would definitely be sticking to that.

Very bad bottlenecks in Virginia the last time we played up in Clones and Cavan. Have no intention of getting caught up in that again.

I would normally go the M1 up to the Ardee turn off on to the N52,Then straight up the N2.
Last time we went to Clones the bus driver went via Virginia then across to Clones, Reckon we would have been quicker going the M1 then over to Clones.

Well said Nidgey. Unfortunately, the bean counters in HQ care more about keeping the Croker Park corporate boxes/premium seats full and happy, than they do about a piddling little thing like atmosphere, or the overall experience of the average punter.

So anyhoo, what way are people heading up to the stony grey soil on Sunday?

After spending 17.5 years of my life stuck in Virginia bottlenecks on previous trips up thar, am gonna give the Wee County a go. Is there much of a difference in going up via Ardee & Carrickmacross, or stay on the M1 longer & go via Hackballscross (what a GREAT name) & Castleblaney?

I go to Monaghan town a lot for work and going on up the M1 and across from the first Dundalk exit towards Cullaville is, while not the shortest, the most hassle free.

    Hurlers v Carlow:

    1. Alan Nolan (St. Brigids)
    2. Paddy Smyth (Clontarf)
    3. Eoghan O'Donnell (Whitehall Colmcille)
    4. James Madden (Ballyboden St. Enda's)
    5. Chris Crummey (Lucan Sarsfields)
    6. Seán Moran (Cuala)
    7. Shane Barrett (Na Fianna)
    8. Jake Malone (Cuala)
    9. Darragh O'Connell (Cuala)
    10. Fergal Whitely (Kilmacud Crokes)
    11. John Hetherton (St. Vincent's)
    12. Riain McBride (St. Vincent's)
    13. Donal Burke (Na Fianna)
    14. Liam Rushe (St. Patrick’s Palmerstown)
    15. Eamon Dillon (Naomh Fionnbarra)

Good to see O'Connell back. Seems to be still trying out options in backs. No O'Carroll or Callaghan. And none of the Cuala forwards strangely enough. I thought Hetherton was out for this one for red card?

Does Michael Boland play regularly for Ballyboden?

Walsh cup red doesn't carry into League I think?

There is not really a great road no matter which way we'd go.

Just leave earlier or go via Mullagh and avoid the main routes

Jayzus, that's a strong starting line up for the 27th of January.

They owe Monaghan a hiding. Last team to beat them.

Con O'Callaghan starting his first league game. His two previous appearances were off bench against Kerry in 2016 and Galway in league final last year.

Good to see Comerford getting a start, about time really.

Well, at least if that's they start as named.

Not hugely convincing, but a win is a win. Should have a better idea of best team at this stage, especially in the backs.

Sluggish start. I'm sure the DCU lads could still feel the midweek game in the legs.

Hetherton played well. Has a good eye for a pass but i'd like to see him run at defenders more. He'd be a nightmare to stop.

    4. Registered Users Posts: 6,665 ✭✭✭Bonniedog

He is definitely turning out to be a bit of a find. As you say, be good to see him using his physicality more.

Short passing on a night like that not a good idea! Did better when going route one.

You do know that Monaghan is in Ireland and not N.Ireland.
Or is anywhere north of Swords foreign to you?

      Oh Jesus.

      Relax.

      It. Was. A. Joke.

Taking the piss out of directionless* Dubs is par for the course around here. And we love to ham it up ourselves of course.

(*Not to be confused with missing GPS units. That's for the Mayo forum.)

Monaghan is nearer the Arctic circle than Dublin so do expect a noticeable reduction in daylight this time of year .. bring a lamp if you're travelling..

No. You need a passport to out of Swords. Not entirely sure how that works. I just do what the Stazi tell me.

McDaid came on for him as a blood sub then got sinbinned just as McAuley was about to come back on. McAuley came on regardless so had to go back off.

      I think
