I just read a post on FB where one of the boycott organizers are encouraging Dublin supporters to go to Croker on weekend to support Roscommon. Because they are playing Mayo.

Just think about that for a minute ........

    All right hun....

I have every intention of shouting for Roscommon this weekend.

Precisely because they are playing Mayo.

    Is that wrong of me?

Do I need to go to Confession on the top of Croagh Patrick or something?

And can I bring a fleg flag with me, if I do?

    :confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

As a punishment for such a hideous crime you can climb Croagh Patrick in your bare feet after viewing the contest on this Reek Sunday. :)

Whatever about gaining absolution I'm not sure if you'll get out of the county alive!:)

Whose accent is 'fleg' supposed to be taking the piss out of? I see it around the last few days and have taken to imitating all sorts but still can't figure it out.

Ulster folk I assumed but now you have me questioning myself, people in the office are looking at me funny as I try to say ''flag'' in multiple accents :D

Its the Belfast one. It's come into use online since the Flag protests in Belfast a few years back over the Union Jack.

Quite a similar vibe between these two situations with the self pity and the cries of culture being eroded. :P

I could see where the Unionists were coming from in fairness.

    Of course.

Former dominant culture trying to get used to being one of many equals... I see it.

Genuine question:- Why do you hate Mayo so much?

    I don't hate anyone snowflake.

Simply put, the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Mayo v Dublin is one of the games great current rivalries.

I'll shout for whoever they are playing, generally because if Mayo get knocked out, it'll make our road to the threepeat even easier. Same with Kerry, but with a lot more historical baggage. It ain't exactly rocket science !

Well, we have played 10 times in the Jim Gavin era and Mayo have yet to win a single game, so yeah, maybe not. :D

Dubs supporting Roscommon against Mayo or Galway v Kerry is based on logical desire to see two of main rivals knocked out. Same I assume will apply to Mayo and Kerry people when Dublin are in quarter final.

However. For a group calling on Dublin supporters to engage in various boycotts of Croke Park while encouraging people to go to the same venue to support Roscommon is not only juvenile, but indicates an IQ of about 61.

The dubs haven't met any decent team yet. Wait until the big boys come to town. Home advantage won't save them from a clipping.

It's a big adjustment, they need time.

Do tickets for the quarters go on sale on Monday?
Looking to grab a few tickets for the Hill online.

Is that Monaghan for us then?

Not necessarily. If Armagh hang onto their lead its an open draw.

  • Registered Users Posts: 15,775 ✭✭✭✭Slattsy

Doesn't matter who it is really, I'm glad it's a nordy team, will stand to us against Tyrone in the semi. They all basically employ the same tactics, with a sprinkle* of sledging on top.

    *being generous.

  • Registered Users Posts: 15,775 ✭✭✭✭Slattsy

I actually think the whole sledging thing is blown out of all proportion. As Ronan Keating says 'its only words'.

Diving. Now that grinds my gears.

Armagh and Kildare was good honest game in fairness. Armagh at their best were tough b@stards but never went in much for the darker arts that didn't involve hitting a chap with a smack in the mouth.
