Recover a Sata drive that I formatted by accident

    Hi Folks,

    By mistake I formatted a sata 500G hard drive. Its my boot up drive into the bargin....
    I know there's programs to unformat, trouble is I want one thats free,

    Anyone have a link for one that brings it back to being the original boot up drive it was,

    Get Photorec, this comes with TestDisk which can recover partitions.

    Photorec will get the files back but will not make it bootable again. Pretty much nothing outside of NSA tools could do that as the one bit the format actually writes is the MFT/MBR so the data used to boot is gone.
