Well lads quick question. Bar the tournaments on Sky and I know there is or was one on ITV, where else do ye watch the tournaments, are they online somewhere or on some other channel?

Theres about 10 tournaments on itv throughout the year. On itv4 next weekend. You can buy a subscription on PDC to watch all the streamed tour events. Other than that you need access to sky

Really can't see Cross making the final, he'll be beaten early, I'd say he's been on an emotional rollercoaster.

Given the accuracy of my predictions recently though he'll probably win it :)

I didn't notice (mainly cause I record and skip to the darts) but the PDC have done away with walk-on-girls.

In snowflake Britain, the walk-on darts ladies are to be banned.
The PDC said the models of 'hope and inspiration to all' have been told their services are 'no longer required'.
Expect live audience attendance figures to drop.

Give it a year or so and maybe:
    - The boxing round ladies will also become extinct
    - The talented multi-dextrus umbrella holders at F1, gone.
    - the regular stage winner celebration at the TourDeFrance might't hold the same appeal.

Will anyone really miss them? MvG was pushing for them to be dropped a few months ago

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,586 ✭✭✭4068ac1elhodqr

It's probably related to the carry on at the Presidents Club, whereby ladies were treated inappropriately as they mingled.

However these darts ladies are never in contact with the card waving fans, and the vast majority of the audience greatly enjoy their presence.
They get paid vast sums for a few short minutes of walking and being applauded at, hard to see what they themselves would dislike about that.

If there isn't a darts ladies trade union already, perhaps there should be to protect their jobs from zealous attempts at PC.

TBH I don’t watch the walk ons anyway so won’t miss them

  • Registered Users Posts: 137 ✭✭kentoccfc

Not like that what their only source of income, plenty of them are models.

Some of the replies on Twitter are insane

True enough wouldn't be any full-time 'competitive darts competitor walking assistant facilitator' roles, so a trade union might not work.

Imagine there would be very few ladies (or men if in such circumstances), who would refuse the opportunity to earn hundreds of notes per minute to take a short walk to a televised stage. Fully clothed, without risk of interference. All whilst being applauded and complimented on the ability to walk, smile and wave occasionally. They don't even have to dance a jig, like on the Rose of Tralee to gain audience approval.

Van Barney has asked over 226.000 followers to sign a petition, for the preservation of the ladies for the darts.
