John O'Shea wins the BDO Masters, played very well and beat a two time BDO champ.

    Ehhh wheres the Masters trophy??

O'Shea played very well to be fair, don't know what the averages were but it looked like an OK standard.

A shame though that the Circus Tavern was half empty. The BDO Worlds at the O2 (capacity 2500) could be a bit of a disaster.

Also they never announced the winner's prize money, hopefully he's not about to be told backstage that there is none...

Was there anybody under 40 in the crowd ?
Circus tavern looked great in the pdc days , how have they made the hall look so lacking character ? State of the crowd

It looked like a bingo hall all weekend.

The pdc world championship in the circus tavern is the most iconic venue i would love to travel back in time and attend again.
The bdo get there hands on it and it looks like a old folks party in a bingo hall

Indigo at the O2, not the main venue. Even then it looks too big to work, although the more central location in London might bring a few more in.

Think it's a smaller theatre type place in the complex. Kind of vicar street type

Is it true tickets for the BDO worlds are more expensive than the PDC hahaha.

You get £5K for turning up and losing the first round of the World Series of Darts Finals, talk about money for nothing.

Soft money, especially for the players that were invited rather than qualifed.

Had to go digging to find it but O'Shea's average in the final was 88.89 over 26 legs.

I can't see how this works out. It's an exhibition. Where is Potter going to pull 200k out of? If he's willing to pay that out why didn't he just keep the BDO worlds there?

Without the 128 or whatever it is pdc tour car holders im not sure how he can call it unified ?
its just another bdo event , back at lakeside , without bdo running it

"The size of the field and format are also yet to be confirmed, though it is believed to be 32 players competing in a format well-known in other sports but less widely used in darts"

I wonder what do they mean re the format?

Wonder will Phil Taylor give it a bash since such big prize money. If this actually goes ahead I'm going to go.

Yeah was an OK standard to be fair and I thought O'Shea held his nerve very well it was a more entertaining game than the PDC final which Cross never looked like losing.

    2 chance double-elimination maybe.

The BDO is the comedy gift that keeps on giving.

Seems the masters trophy John O shea won is a trophy that could be bought online for £20.

The original trophy they did not use because des the proven liar would not pay to have the old sponsor winmau removed from it.

Des the liar has now said he wont be resigning afterall and the whole fiasco last week was just a "bad day"

And they wonder why everyone laughs at these idiots

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,882 ✭✭✭sc86

Its just a whole bunch of idiots to be fair
    A organisation of stupid people
They should call themselves the brexit darts organisation

It was a BDO decision (well a Des Jacklin decision) to move from the Lakeside as he doesn't like the venue! Bob Potter always paid the prize fund for the BDO Worlds as he made his money on people staying at his venue.

All of this means that the decision to move from Lakeside to Indigo at the O2 an outrageously stupid decision as the BDO are relying on ticket sales and getting a sponsor on board to be able to pay the prize fund. Ticket sales have been poor so far (an average of about 80 sold per session in a ~1600 venue), the BDO are in real trouble. It seems as if Des Jacklin is on a one man mission to take the BDO down from the inside and they are under very real threat of going bankrupt.

As for the new tournament in the Lakeside, if Potter can attract a good crowd then he can easily put up that prize fund. I'm not sure he'll be able to though unless he can get Phil Taylor and Barney etc. to commit to play in it.
