    Hi BOI,

Is it possible to transfer sterling from a UK bank account to either a BOI current account or to a BOI Savings Accounts? Would the amount of sterling make a difference?

What would be the charges involved in either case? I presume it just gets converted to Euro at the exchange rate?

    Many thanks

    John

    Hi John,

Thanks for contacting us on Boards.

Yes you can receive a transfer into your Bank of Ireland Current account from a UK bank. The charge to receive a transfer in Sterling into your account would be €5 for an amount over €65 and no charge for a transfer under the amount of €65. The amount will be converted into Euros from Sterling at the daily rate.

If the transfer is made in Euros from the UK bank, there will be no charge for receiving the transfer. Please check with the UK bank whether they will charge for this type of transfer on their end. You can find the details of our International Charges here https://personalbanking.bankofireland.com/bank/international-payments/schedule-of-international-transaction-charges/

The majority of our Savings accounts are set up with a direct debit payment so it would not be possible to receive a transfer into it.

Please let us know if we can help with anything else.

    Thanks,
    Sarah
