Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Could we outbid Pool though? I assume he has a release clause, I'd guess £30m-£40m. Both clubs meet that and it's then his choice. We finish close to Pool and they don't make the CL and we have a strong argument. He doesn't want to be back up for VVD.

I can't see Brighton getting relegated anyway, though I'd not shed too many tears given their fan's stirring up of rivalry following BW's move back.

    .

Pool will sign that Turkish Centre half they have on loan, will only be £20m.
Gordon McQueen diagnosed with vascular dementia. He used to head the ball like nobody's business when with Leeds. I think there can be no doubt at this stage given the amount of players diagnosed.

Very sad. Family said this in the statement too
"Dad scored some important goals in his career and memorable headers but used to stay back in training, heading the ball to the goalkeeper for practice over and over," said the McQueen family. "He does wonder if this has been a factor in his dementia as his symptoms appeared in his mid-60s

Soon enough there will be a big court case about heading in football I feel

Anyway, any thoughts on tonight? Southampton stopped the rot vs Chelsea but I am hoping we have enough for them.
Ings worries me but we should be ok. Is Phillips back? I wonder is he tempted to put in Koch or Llorente either

No team news yet, but Phillips, Rodrigo, Koch and Poveda are all definitely out. Llorente will probably be on the bench.

Another of those could go either way games. Hopefully phillips is in, I do fear stupid free kicks and Ward-Prowse scoring from them. Hopefully get a quick start and take a 2-0

I'm never confident predicting the outcome of matches this season, it's just been a very weird season for results. I'm just hoping we score first and if we do I think we could get a few more. If we start with the same 11 that started against Wolves I'd be happy with that (knowing Kalvin and the others are still out). Shacks will benefit from the last game in DM and the back 4 looks better with Ayling and Dallas at FB and Struijk back alongside Cooper.

Oh I thought it was only granny Val keeping him out and he'd be back by now

Llorente in for Shackleton. Fingers crossed he gets a clean run of it!

Really hope he can prove that he was worth the price paid for him.

Struijk into DM then with Llorente partnering Cooper?

I thought so too, but it appears the knock he has is worse than we'd hoped for.

Not sure - Llorente can play the Kalvin role too apparently so he could be giving that a go.

I'd prefer to see that, Struijk at DM gives me the heebie-jeebies.

    Probably Struijk in there.

No Ings or Minamino starting for them

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,070 ✭✭✭purple hands

Christ I hope Llorente makes it through 90 mins. Might be him, Cooper and Struijk in back 3 even.

Any chance we can get a refund from Spurs for the pitch? State of it already.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,905 ✭✭✭Seathrun66

Saints pressing is good. But keep it goalless for 15/20 mins and we'll take over.

Saints absolutely up for it. Energy levels already shows they are 100% playing for 3 points here.
And they are clever with the little tugs and pulls. Struijk getting held by the arm for the Vestergaard chance. They will be at that ever chance they get.

    Pitch is absolutely disgraceful already.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,905 ✭✭✭Seathrun66

Raphinha looks delighted with Roberts. As I am.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,905 ✭✭✭Seathrun66

Vestergaard will do well to last this match.

And yes, another down vote for the pitch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,070 ✭✭✭✭event

Llorente passing is pretty erratic. Can see what he is trying so might take him time.

If we get the ball out wide consistently we'll win this

    Diving prick.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,922 ✭✭✭Ceist_Beag

Never a penalty, shouldn't take that long to see that either. Should get a yellow card for diving.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,905 ✭✭✭Seathrun66

Why isn't that a yellow for Tella?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,070 ✭✭✭✭event

    Thank god

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,070 ✭✭✭✭event

They only book for diving if no contact. There was contact, just not a foul

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,905 ✭✭✭Seathrun66

    Superb tackle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,070 ✭✭✭✭event

Also, Koch and Roberts have been poor

Raph should have scored but thats a great tackle

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,922 ✭✭✭Ceist_Beag

Shouldn't have taken the extra touch. Great tackle all the same but Raphinha shouldn't have given him the chance

But he's made the contact to deliberately go down. Surely a different scenario?

The balls to pull that tackle off. Impressive.

Would have put good money on Raphina to score there.

Lucky let off there - weren't prepped for the quick one at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,218 ✭✭✭NuckChorris1

Delighted with 0-0 after that shambles!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,578 ✭✭✭newhouse87

lucky, cant fault raphinha tbf to him, was unreal tackle.

  • Moderators, Business & Finance Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 15,015 Mod ✭✭✭✭whiterebel

Raph's passing is awful. Putting us in all sorts of trouble

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,922 ✭✭✭Ceist_Beag

Can we blame the pitch again?!

  • Moderators, Business & Finance Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 15,015 Mod ✭✭✭✭whiterebel

    Doesn’t seem to affect Southampton
