Chin up lads. We're still well able to play any team off the park. Just need someone to start sticking in a few goals. Not just Bamford. Pablo, Costa, Klich and Harrison are all well able to score. Just need one or two of them to find some form and we'll be there or thereabouts. If Bielsa says JKA needs time then he'll work around it. He's turned Alioski into a (slightly mental) LB and Dallas into a CM without anyone really complaining. He might turn Meslier into our super striker yet!! Shackleton or Roberts coming in at 10 might be the injection of tempo we need too.

    Play Casilla up front then...

Not the fault of the board, to leave a signing to the last week? And for then said signing to be unfit?

And it's Bielsa who chose to go into the season with 2 recognised strikers and persisted with the worse one, resulting in Arsenal bringing their guy back

    Buck stops with the manager

Annoying if JKA isn't on the bench, but can appreciate Bielsa's position. If JKA isn't fit yet, fair enough. What happens if he's brought in too soon and gets injured? Already had a bit of a scare playing with the U-23s this week. No thanks. On the theme of rushing players in too soon, Pablo was back v quickly after his hammy injury and has mostly been off form since.

It probably would have been the same with Che Adams or any other striker at a loose end that was actually available. They also would have to catch up fitness wise. The EFL is frenetic like. Not to mention the need to get up to speed tactically. If you were to criticize, perhaps the club spent too long chasing Adams and JKA could have been brought in sooner.

Adams has been coming off the bench for Southampton and starting in the Cup games for the most part

We needed someone who could make an impact now, not in 3 months

No-one is expecting him to play 90 minutes of every game from now until the end of the season. I think most fans accept he's a bench player, certainly at the moment and probably only to be used if necessary.

Out of interest, how much game time has Tyler Roberts had in the last 8 months I wonder. Yet he's considered fit enough for the match day squad.

Here is what MD Angus Kinnear is quoted as saying in the YEP:

"We believe that both Augustin and Poveda have the ability to make an immediate impact to an already strong squad that has put us in a fantastic position but, as importantly, we have signed two players of undoubted Premier League quality. This was a critical part of our recruitment brief."

There's no transparency clearly between Bielsa and recruitment.

Let's call a spade a shovel here - with the chances we create we should be at least 15 points clear. Bamford has been at best, terrible, and at worst, borderline disgraceful in front of goal, and we can dress it up all we want

Agree with this. Don't get the negativity here. It's only two years ago we were watching Paul Heckingbottom or whatever you call him with a very similar squad maintaining our run of mid table mediocrity, playing horrendeous football. Distinctly remember one night at Fulham at Easter time that season where we started Jay Roy Grot up front and he missed an absolute sitter at 2 - 0 to give us a chance.

Now look where we are. Don't pretend you wouldn't have bitten Angus Kinnear's hand off if you had been told then that one and two years later promotion was within our own hands, playing fantastic football with a raft of the same players.

It's no surprise to me that JKA will be lacking in fitness. Our lads are as fit as any team I've seen at this level. They go from first whistle to last at 100 miles an hour every game.

Having said that, I don't see why he couldn't get 15/20 minutes at the end of a game when all tactics go out the window and it becomes a free for all, but when we took Pat off against Cardiff we all know what happened.

Anyway on to Forest with confidence.

    Anyone going ?

He did go into a very long explanation on the JKA situation and the point about him at 50% being of no use on the bench makes sense. At this stage my feeling is that it could be Bristol before he appears. Remember though that Forest are in no scintillating from themselves. Poveda at least will be there as an option and looking ahead to Tuesday there's a new lad, Phillips I think his name is, who'll fit in nicely.

Bielsa doesnt do that though, not really.

Lads seem to want something different from him. He is a man that is incredibly loyal to his players, always has been. There is a reason he hasnt won loads of things, a reason he left Lazio after 2 days. He will not change his ideas for anyone, especially not when we are second in the league.

With all the chances we create?

Per game, we have 16.6 shots with 5.2 on target
Brentford, 14.4 shots, 4.9 on target
Fulham, 13.5 shots, 4.6 on target
WBA, 13.5 shots, 4.5 on target.

We have more overall shots as the likes of Klich and Alioski shoot from anywhere at times.

We should not have a way more amount of goals cos of shots on target, it not like we miss loads more than anyone else. If Bamford was scoring all these goals, then we wouldnt have harrison on 5 goals, Alioski and Pablo on 4. Football doesnt work that way.

We just love to moan as a fanbase. This is our best manager in 20 years and we are slating him, giving out about the players. League positions over last 20 years

Enjoy the football? This is the Leeds thread, for god's sake.

Seriously though, who didn't enjoy the 2nd half against Milwall? What a great game, and that was just last week.

Some of the best football I've seen. Id rather this than go up to the ****e in the PL

It's fantastic to watch, week in,week out. Even when we lose some of our play is sensational.

A far cry from the days when it was head tennis around the centre circle, a hoof into the corner and hope that something would materialise.

We've done the starving artist thing for too long.

A bit of glory wouldn't go amiss.

I'd take Pulis-ball if it meant getting out of this pissant league

I've done Hereford away on a Tuesday losing 1-0 and Luton at Kenilworth Road killing us 5-1, and I've also done the Mancs away in the cup, and I choose the latter every single time.

Likewise, a 'load of lads' on Boards.ie have been conditioned to accept mediocrity

And that's the big difference. I wouldn't swap the last year and a half for Pulis-ball and promotion. Premiership money and fame is great but wouldn't last if we were that team. That's pretty much what Cardiff did and see them now. As much as it'd hurt I'd take a season of Bielsa and 3rd place over that.

JKA off at HT. Blowing out of his arse after that Murderball session the other day. You never know though. Poveda coming on soon and he'll be at least on the bench tomorrow so there is a modicum of hope for Augustin

Great recruitment job by Borat and Co though. February 7th and we have a striker that is not fit and only 16 games left.

Definitely been a poor start. Think its known by Bielsa as a weak spot in the team.

That was never a foul though

They are being clever with their fouling, breaking rhytmn. Also going in fairly hard too.

    Casilla shouldn't be beaten there

    Ah kiko :(

Could do with the Kiko ban at this stage to give him a break, he’s devoid of confidence.

I’d be giving augustin a shout too. Looks like we’ll struggle to get a decent chance or two in the second half so get him in there to take advantage of them.

We can't even create a chance for Bamford to miss

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,003 ✭✭✭Carcharodon

What a miss, should of been 2-0 if he just looked up
Some serious bad passages of play by Leeds, some awful football being played, take Alioski off, put white back in central defense, move Ayling over and bring JK on

Red cards turn out to be a whole lot more expensive than they seem at the time! 12/1 in shots is really not good enough.

Our heads have gone. Just like last year only earlier. That second goal was an example of it. Just pass the ball to your keeper. No no Ill try and turn with it thats the right decision, oops, no it isnt

    Terrible performance

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,922 ✭✭✭Ceist_Beag

This has turned from a bad run of form into a collapse! 9 points from a possible 30, we're not even going to make the playoffs.
Our passing today was terrible. Pablo is out of form and we need Roberts to find some form to replace him. Costa is such a disappointment, he offers nothing. At least when JKA and Shackleton came on we offered some threat.
The only hope is that there is a lot of the season left.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,070 ✭✭✭purple hands

Kiko.....probably needs to be dropped at this stage.

Who knows...maybe the racism charge is getting to him. But anyways, objectively, another soft goal on his near post.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,024 ✭✭✭10000maniacs

I said at the time that I hoped our collapse against Cardiff wasn't the start of our downturn. It's proving to be now.
Everything since that Cardiff game is relegation form. Not good enough Bielsa.
