You're mixing stuff right up. XCX didn't sell 105,000 in the UK in its first week. 105,000 was the total sales for XCX in Japan for its first month on sale. XC2 sold 14,000 copies in the UK last week, in comparison to 10,500 for XCX's debut. The original Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii sold 6,000 copies during its first week in the UK.

    Hang on.

So there is a video game series called "Xenoblade".

The first game released and sold 6k in its first week in the UK.
The second game released and sold 10.5k in its first week in the UK.

The third game released and sold 14k in it's first week in the UK and it's a "failure"?

What would be a success story, in your opinion?

I for one would like to know how many Brits downloaded the language pack so they could follow the cutscenes?

Quick question, Seems Amiibos are very hard to come buy, is there any store in Ireland where I can get some at a reasonable price? Wanted to get a one or two for my daughter to start her off with her switch at Christmas?

They may not have much left, I've just seen Animal Crossing ones in my local, but GameStop have 50% off amiibo at the moment. Smyths cleared out their stock a while back. The whole toys to game fad seems to be dead, but no one has told Nintendo yet. Online, and overpriced, seems to be the only way to get the newer ones.

Argos have a few reduced at the moment Shovel Knight for €8.50 and Villager from Animal Crossing for €8

    These are all under €10

Has anyone tried the 8Bitdo SF30 PRO Bluetooth Gamepad?
I am considering getting one but I've read a few mixed things online.

I have the normal edition without the analogue sticks and it's fantastic. I don't use third-party controllers because I never feel the quality are up to par but these are an exception to my rule.

Very interesting video about Nintendo, Atari, Coleco, Donkey Kong, the NES and how everything could have turned out so differently.

The Atari NES | How The NES Almost Became Atari's Console - Featuring Guru Larry (Larry Bundy Jr)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2q5_RgSCjBo

Nintendo dodged a bullet, timing I think was a factor and the NES could have been swamped by Atari's financial troubles. It's hard to know, maybe it would have rescued them.

My plan for 2018 is buy the Rockman series for the Famicom and Gameboy.
I've already got the 2nd title on the NES and the 3rd one the Famicom, so I'll get the rest.
The Gameboy ones are fantastic ports, Rockman World they're titled.
    Pretty affordable tbh

Listening to the NVC podcast and man Peer is 100% carrying it. I do like the guests they have on it like one a few weeks ago from Factor 5 or this past week from Atooi. But I don't think Altano, Ryan or the new presenter Filip add anything of substance to a conversation involving Nintendo.

I like Altano. Ryan can be annoying sometimes. And Filip is new and still clearly very nervous about coming in and taking over the show.
I only started listening to the show around the time of the Switch launch so it seems weird to not have Peer hosting. His and Brian's love for all things Nintendo is infectious.

Filip seems to just be MC at the moments. He seems to just give one or 2 comments but mainly just changes the topic to move things along. Can't blame him for still settling in. Also can't be easy doing it with your boss sitting right beside you.

They have a nice selection of pads and I like that the new one is wireless.

I have read that the pro version has rumble that's a bit strong and very loud.
I'm not sure whether to worry since it would be a fight game and retro gaming pad.

I've got one! It's a nice looking controller but not really as good to use as the pro controller.

I'd recommend it if you want something that's different and nice to look at. It's a bit of a novelty item tbh.

The pro controller is great but more expensive.

Mario & Sonic at Rio Olympics to be removed from eShop

    http://www.japanesenintendo.com/post/168737829029

Just another reason why owning a game physically is better than digital. I'd guess that maybe the license has expired but then how come the Winter Olympics game hasn't been removed? I see that Ubisoft have the Winter Olympic license for Steep, I don't know if they have it exclusively. And who has it for the Summer Olympics? You'd imagine with them being held in Tokyo, Japan that Nintendo and SEGA would want it now more than ever. Although I haven't looked at the trend in sales.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

In terms of physical vs digital, doesn't the removal only prevent new purchases rather than existing customers being unable to download it again? That's normally what this means

The style savvy games are secretly brilliant.... except the second 3DS game, also not played the latest ones.

But the first two are fantastic management sims with exceptional writing. The customers are all insane and there's plenty of laugh out loud moments from the stuff they come out with.
