Can anybody tell me what the leafy almost grain like plants are mixed in with my grass?

The lawn was fed with Evergreen weed and feed about 2 months ago and again last week.

Oh! You learn something new every day, didn't even know grass did that! Is it something all types of grass do or just specific ones?

All grasses by their very nature set seed if left to grow tall enough.

The reason grass keeps growing so much is it never gets to set seed with regular mowing.
Plants, including grass have one goal, to set seed !!

Which is how 'grass seed' that you sow to create a lawn comes about :) Anyway it is time to cut that grass!

It's growing like a mad, cut it a week ago! It has been an awful couple of weeks weather wise in Cork, not a dry day in sight.
