Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hoofing long balls up to Walters isn't the way we should be approaching the game.

Similar feel to early on in the Sco v Eng game.

Goalkeeper looks really nervous with the ball at his feet and distribution has been poor. He should be closed down at every opportunity.

If you're going to hoof it, you have to have someone supporting Walters.

This is all so fúcking caveman.

And why did Ward not overlap there?

Seems like the Stephen Ward from two years ago has turned up unfortunately.

We're better than these if we played actual football.

Well this is why I don't like O'Neill.

    His tactics are awful.

Pretty poor stuff so far, from both sides. Hopefully, it'll improve. I've been channel hopping with the Mayo game, but that isn't going much better either!
    :(

There's no central link at all between the CM's and Walters up top. That will need to change.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

    Randolph unconvincing yet again.

    Moldova 1-0 against Georgia

Decision making seems very poor from us so far,

They need to wake up and start playing the more sensible balls

    That was abysmal by Brady.

0-0 written all over this. Maybe a Robbie free kick will sort it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,163 ✭✭✭messinkiapina

I can barely watch whenever the North stand comes into view, it just looks so wrong. Thankfully I haven't seen much of it so far with the way Ireland are playing.

I'd bite your hand off for that,

Or perhaps the dodgiest of dodgy scrappy goals, in the 63rd minute

Walters should have done better there.

Another Irish Match another thread where people complain we dont play tiki taka "real" football.

That was the best thing we've done so far. Walters could have done better. Hopefully that will spark us into life.

    Depends which Mayo turns up!

Its not final time, so it will be the exciting sexy unbeatable one

    Much better.

Whelan has been our best player. He does the obvious thing of travelling into space with the ball, rather than hoofing it, plays it to Ward and a chance is created.

    Football isn't difficult.

McQuillan is the ref. Mayo should be getting a penalty around now.

I don't have an issue with it as long as it gets results, but if you're going to play that way then at least we need to be set up properly, i.e having a midfielder within 30 yards of Walters to support would be a start.

I hope we get a penalty, and one of the lads (a Dubliner) shouts out

    "Let Christie take it"

The way they are at the moment it looks like Walters is expected to win the aerial battles and get on the end of his own knockdowns.

Nobody's doing that. There is a middle ground between Barca 2009 and this though

Exactly what Hendrick and McClean (the latter at times) have being doing if you are watching the same game as me

Hendrick did it well there, getting into that little pocket of space. First time it has actually happened in the game though and we are nearly half an hour in.
